Hmm I'm planning on buying this soon and was leaning toward paying extra for the sound deadening kit, does anyone know what the insulation looks like on the backside of the vertical piece? Like with the trunk open can you see a lot of ugly deadening material?

Where will you put your 6 packs?
The rear seats hold them perfectly. |

Would this kit be able to support the weight of a box for subs and an amp? Or could I even use the kit itself with some modification as the mounting surface for subs and an amp instead of building a box to put back there?

There is no insulation - it's one long black piece of plastic covered with felt. There is some underneath the panels covering the area where the seat cushions originally were.

As long as the box is mounted somewhere other than the rear panel separating the trunk space from the cabin, you'll be good. The rear panel wouldn't be able to withstand and secure the box by itself.

If you look on the website there's an optional deadening kit that adds extra insulation under the lower panel (likely eliminating storage space) and also adds a later to the back of the upper panel |

@TheBatman, that's pretty cool! There is some NVH added with this setup. It'd be interesting to hear the difference with extra insulation.

Might try and mount the box to both the lower and rear panels. More then likely I would get something made that is curved and fills the whole area, with a speaker on each side and the amp in the middle.
