Somewhere around 270hpatw is nice and reliable if tuned well (turbo is my preference), and your OEM clutch and gearbox won't hate you.
Use a good tuner and sound engineering principles Camber solution Use a good tuner and sound engineering principles Good matched dampers and springs (careful with the height, you can easily screw the car up by lowering more than 1"). Use a good tuner and sound engineering principles

You got that right. I'm set on the CSG package for now. The price is right and only heard good things about them. |

Since you've been pretty well served on the performance front I'll address some minor cosmetic upgrades that really class up the vehicle:
-LED's. Swap out your door lighting, trunk lighting, overhead, fogs (if halogen), turn signals, plate lights, etc for LED's. Get good quality ones as they're still pretty cheap. I like to use superbrightleds.com -Side markers: You'll want to swap these bulbs to LED's as well (go with amber ones) so while they're out you may as well swap in clear lens ones instead of the orange. -Roof wrap: a gloss black roof wrap looks really good on these cars. I was tempted to go with black rose myself because it's almost black but has a tiny hint of red to it. Might look good if you're going to keep red as your accent colour (like your brake calipers). As for skirts I know you said you were looking to go with TS/STI ones but I have a slightly odd alternative to suggest. The PO of my car installed those stick on, 'form to any profile' universal lips (which I believe are actually just garage door weather seals) as side skits and they actually look great! Very subtle, and you don't have to worry about them too much when you're going to jack up the car. |

If you want to keep it NA, maybe look into an upgraded final drive ratio? A 4.88 would let the car grip and zip if you get some nice tires.
I think a non-negotiable upgrade on every brz/86 is to be sure you put gorilla tape behind the window switches on the passenger and driver's side door panels to keep them from buzzing. |

I also totally agree with the roof wrap. I think I have seen a nice roof carbon fiber cover somewhere. It's a little pricey, but I want to do a real carbon fiber theme on that car. I think Seibon sells one. Yes I did the garage seals on a previous car but I think I will stick with the STI stuff for that one. Thanks for your input! |

I totally respect that opinion and keeping it original. However I have played with all the cars I have ever known and this one still has room for improvement. If I had a Challenger Hellcat Redeye that would be another story

I personally think it's definitely worth upgrading if you just want better acceleration in general with adding power to the car. It's $$$ though, and will work against you if you ever go with a turbo setup or supercharged setup over 250whp (in my opinion)

Anyone done 4.88 gear? My living with the 4.30 suggests I wouldn’t like 4.88 on the highway much. I’m 4.88 curious though.

The motor has 12.5/1 compression. Keep that in mind when you think about boost.

I'm just weighing the pros and cons of going forced induction and I'm just concerned that doing too much to the car might kill the "nature of the beast". When you upgrade a car to a certain point, I feel that sometimes you just miss the simplicity of the "almost stock" days.
Pros : The car will accelerate much faster Installing FI yourself can be good learning It makes the car more unique and appealing to the general crowd Cons : It costs a lot of money to make it bulletproof Whatever you do, it will cause stress to a certain point on the engine and will shorten its lifespan A lot of things can go wrong and cause headaches The twin will NEVER be a drag car, whatever you do to it, unless you reach the very high HP numbers which will require extensive engine work. That's how I see it, I could be wrong. I would love to do FI to my car, but I'm just not convinced it's worth the smiles per gallon. It's a lot of money, especially in Canada. |
