Pulling timing out for the track is sort of a band aid solution but at the same time inevitable to a certain degree. I think the real reason for the added knock would be due to the additional temperature and/or additional blow by.

Another option for track would be leave "road" tune in but on track day buy tank of unleaded "race" fuel elf 102 or similar or a bottle of octane boster on thge day. the good fuel being the better option.

Solving hardware problems with hardware (air oil cooler, catch cans) rather than tuning is still better though.

I was hesitant in switching to p100 due to inconvenience and needing jerry cans for track but i'll just bite the bullet.

You should need barely anymore cans for P100 over 98.
If you get about 9L/100km for 98 you'll get about 10L/100km for P100. It's E85 that shoots it up to about 13L/100km.

Incidentally price is like this:
98 - 9L/100km @ $1.52/L = $13.70/100km
P100 - 10L/100km @ $1.47/L = $14.70/100km = +$1.00/100km over 98
E85 - 13L/100km @ $1.25/L = $16.20/100km = +$1.50/100km over P100

+1 definitly ,especially oil coolers for prolonged consstent track use, just covering off something for the very occasional or singe track day.

I can get my oil to hit 124C/255F without an oil cooler within 5 mins on the street less than an hour from the city. Definitely not prolonged track use. Though the flkc doesn't look so bad looking back at this log - maybe it's just the intake runners that make knock worse, who knows. E85 solves all haha.

I tried filling up with P100 today for the first time... to be greeted by P98

Petrol needle is below the empty line, so far below i'm actually worried lol. Curious to see how close to 50 litres this refuel gets

Yes looks like P100 gone @Wayno called it a while back.

have to make your own brew now

fill with non-ethanol 98 shell/bp/caltex then add 6 litres of United E85 (its about E90) , should get you pretty close to the old P100.

You could try Caltex E-flex but its E% is only about E75 so may not work well

Or your going to have to pull another degree or so out of the base timing top end and probably another 0.7 around 2000-3500.
