Dimman I don't know, I still think it will be a Toyota. You think they will show a Toyota badge all this time and then pull the ol switcheroo? Mayber there might be a Scion version as well as the Toyota. I know one thing, this might be one of the most hyped cars of this decade. If not THE most hyped. Lets just hope it doesn't disappoint after all this building up of the product.
Toyota/Scion IQ.

I don't care what the name of the car is, as long as the car performs well.

WHEELS mag in australia did acouple of pages on the FT MkII being at Geneva, it speaks about Toyota USA rejecting the MkII because its wasn't aggressive enough so i think this gives alittle fuel to the flame of it being released as a scion in the states

sorry this last pic is really blurry was in a hurry customers where coming(pic in next post)

Well, I never mentioned you, I was speaking of the Frankenstein Tcs built with huge budgets from sponsors. And I guess we both agree then that these drivers are essentially doing all this for money, not preference . . . now that thats cleared up, I see Tcs being used in this fashion more than any other car (in FD or time attack). Thats why with the release of the new Tc-2, Aasbo already is having a Tc-2 drift car being built . . . it's all about marketing. That saddens me.

BTW. the reason I choose to respond only to one post is because usually my posts build up on each question or statement, the last one being the point of the entire post. So answering that is definitively answering all of your counter arguments.

Also, that scion countdown clock is scary. It's like they want you to know how much time till you die(a little inside) lol

You are still off base however when you throw teams in the mix such as PTuning who built a two time championship tC without the help of Scion factory backing. Is that preference or marketing?

This is nothing new, I don't understand how you are just realizing this. You ever had your car sponsored before? What do you do for free parts and services....you "market" said compaines on your vehicle. This goes for Auto manufactures....this process is decades old. If you were competing in grassroots events spending your own money for years, and a team came along and said we want you to drive for us and we will pay you X amount of money.....you going to tell them no just because the motorsports doesn't have a grassroots feel at the Pro level? I know I sure as hell won't turn something like that down, no matter what brand vehicle it is. You get paid by sponsors for being a marketing tool at the Pro level.

You talk as if this just started recently with Scion. Sure the drivers themselves still have the same passion as before, but they go where they are going to get paid cause its still their job. Ken Block went from Subaru to Ford....because Subaru pulled out and Ford made an offer. No different than any other Pro Sport or MotorSport.

Umm reread your post or the article because they said - Toyota USA rejected MARK I and forced the more aggressive MkII design. If anything this is more reason that it's coming to Toyota and not Scion lol

Preference(or marketing, who knows). Still dont understand why you bring up PTuning when I reference frankenstein tC builds. AFAIK, they didnt swap anything.

No they dont . . . hence why tsuchiya left . . . and all the keep drifting fun stickers haha.

Regardless, we agree scion throws a buttload of money into motorsports(and Drifting for Dimman's sake) for marketing right? And that it's not about preference, its about who's paying more right?

While true, the car has yet to be shown at any American auto show, which is where Scion is exclusively, hence, no need to show any badge other than Toyota up until this point.

If the FT-86 is shown as a Scion model only at the NY auto show, without the actually Mk2 concept being displayed at the Toyota booth, consider that a done deal this car is being sold as Scion over here.

Because all y'all seem to ever reference is the ONE tC with a motor swap. How many other make and model FD cars are running V8s?

Again Scion would not be the sole guilty party doing something that has been going on for decades. Scion gets the attention only because its the new kid on the block.

When I speak of drivers with the passion still, keep in mind I'm not talking just drifting here. DK represents drifting in D1. I am talking pro drivers everywhere no matter the discipline. Some are still passionate about driving.

Good point, didn't think of that.

Nascar V8s? none lol. But I was referring to the frankenstein builds, and you hadn't quite answered my question and jumped to PTunings moderately tuned tC. Which is why I was confused in the first place. A good 3 posts back, talk about deflecting (again) lol.

I was just leading into my next point, that wasnt about scion. But now that you mention it, it is the only car we've ever seen with so much marketing behind it in motorsports. Considering the stock car is not capable of drifting even in the tiniest bit, its astonishing that its everywhere in the drifting world. Its no wonder they're getting so much hate from grassroots drifters. BTW fun fact: did you know the first US drift champ drifted a FWD civic?

Exactly, some. Those that aren't allow themselves to be bought out by scion. Get paid to drive something they couldn't care less about.
