They start you down a slippery slope on street safety. Some may be OK, but I'm not sure they all are (and that assumes your not using the harness on the street). If you want a harness just for AutoX, why not a Schroth Rallye 3? If you're going fixed back seats and stuff, it may be worth a look.

So who is running a half cage or full cage, fixed back seats and harnesses for STX?

I have the G-Speed 4-point roll bar with harness bar which I've mounted Schroth clubman III 6/pt harnesses installed with the OEM seats in my BRZ. For street driving I use the OEM seatbelt system.
I fabricated a bracket for attaching the clips for points 5 & 6. I route them under the seat to the bracket with ring bolts for the belt clips. The bracket mounts underneath the two, rear seat-frame mounting bolts. And yes, the passenger, inboard rear seat frame mounting bolt head failed. Insert deleted expletives here. I now have eight bolts in Subaru plastic bags waiting for me to extract said bolt and replace with one from my hoard. Reuse the seat frame mounting bolts at your peril. G-Speed welded attachment bolt plates on the both sides of the tunnel. I use Schroth clip attachment extensions under the door jam mounting bolts of the OEM seat belts, as well as with the passenger side tunnel mount using a hex head bolt. The passenger seat sits closer to the tunnel than the driver seat. The ring bolt hits the seat. On the driver side I installed the ring bolt from Schroth. I use a OEM front seat belt metal insert (salvaged from a jammed seatbelt assembly) snapped into the seat belt receptical to spoof the system. Note: the clip inserts for the rear seatbelts are different from the front seat clip inserts. All this happened after the 2016 Autocross season ended for me. Evaluation on a course will take place in March. In the meantime, you're welcome to see what I've done and check the fit for your application.

I'm putting in a Sparco Evo II some time in the next couple of weeks. I have one in my s13 and I'm big enough that the stock belts hit me in the waist alright. We'll see how it goes in the BRZ.
Also adding a steering wheel and QR (and weights! so it hit the same 6.24lb weight). |

I guess I don't see the value in adding the weight vs the results and safety risk off course, at least for AutoX. I haven't seen one you can take out for the street. A Rallye3 does quite well, though I guess Schroth doesn't sanction installation in this car... So still some risk, I'd guess. For AutoX, probably fine, and easy to bypass for the street. I'm not sure if the race seats people use are fixed back, but going to the minimum weight can save another 40lbs. I admit to being a little paranoid... Only accident I've been in was a plumbing van going 35 into the back of my truck... And people in my neighborhood don't stop at signs... |

No one. Car is too slow to need anything more than a bucket seat. I use stock seat belt with my bucket.

If you really want a belt that'll hold you in better, why not just try a CG-lock or Schroth Profi II ASM harness? Either will improve your hold in the seat without the compromise in safety that comes with adding a harness bar.

The Profit II needs a bar or cage... The Rallye 3 is the one that works without.

I've had the Rallye 3 for years now and like it a lot. I have a set of old Prodrive Sparco seats (similar to Corsas), but I don't think the weight difference is a whole lot so I've just stuck with the factory seats.

About 30lbs between both seats if built to the min. STX requirements (25lbs).

No.
I think this comes up every time it gets mentioned. The rule was changed in 2016. |

Yeah, you can have the wheel and QR now but the weight cannot be lower than the stock with airbag.
