Got the tune uploaded, idled for 5mins (not sure if needed but what the heck why not), restarted and idle for a few mins, then drove for 15-20mins. During the first 10 secs of idle, i had 2 or 3 minor backfire, not sure why that happened but it didnt' reoccur. All is well.

Initial impression on STG1 v1.07:
  • Off the line throttle response under normal driving seems to be dulled down a little. It felt better after some miles. May improve after a while.
  • Mid-high range definitely pulls harder, especially mid! Felt very similar to my old 08 Si K20 (in a good way. ie rev happy) with bolt on and ECU tuned , but with more torque!
  • Very odd but it even sounds different (louder) at WOT in mid and high. Airaid intake was already on the car.
  • STG1 Tune feels awesome.
Time for some datalogging and few hours of track time on Wednesday.
Hopefully John will still look at my data in 6months since my car will be in storage this week.

Very nice review, suprised how noticable the gains are even with the STG1 Tune. Very impressive. I'm just under 10k miles, with just perrin crank pulley, and a front strut bar. But the stock intake has settled in and actually has a whistle to it at 5k rpm+. I'm waiting for K&N to come out with one. Very nice review again.

There is K&N. I just get a trd which is pretty much the same. Yes this stg 1 makes the car entirely different joy to drive.

Is the stock flash you included still the original stock flash i bought the car with in june or is the more recent one?

Taking in the car on Saturday for the idle dip issues and im going to flash back to stock for that.

If this works for you, then you've got map switching, and therefore the rest of the new RaceROM goodies.

Note that you can switch maps even while the engine is running, it's just easier to see the 1K tach setting with the engine off since it starts from 0. If you did it while the engine was idling, you're already right around 1K.
Got it working thanks foobar..

once you've got the clutch down and the gas floored it should default to 4k RPM limit if i recall. to adjust that, limit, just move the cruise control stalk up or down.

Up on the cruise control. There are YouTube videos on it.

Press clutch to the floor...hold gas to the floor and once it starts bouncing use the cruise control stalk up and down to adjust the rpms

hmmm mine does not. I have tried all the maps. it revs all the way up. Only thing that appears to work is the autoblip. FFS doesnt seem to do anything either. ive tried from 3k all the way to 7k, just over revs.

I'm getting a message saying that the ROM is not customized for my vehicle. Seems to accept the stock flash. Just got my ECU back from the UK and they installed a standard ROM. Hope that isn't the problem.

I am all tuned up now. Fuel level in map 1 doesn't want to work and just shows 2.3-2.4 even tho I just filled my tank. John's tune wore a couple mm off my brand new winter tires so I will be looking for some compensation or a refund LULZ.

Did they put your vin on the new ecu. I think the tunes are locked down to vins on the ecu. Stock may not have that.
