You can also stand 2 tires up behind the driver seat and stack two behind the passenger seat, leaving the entire trunk empty.

Since we are talking about bigger tires the 265/35/18 RE71r is a lot wider than the 245/40/17, so who's gonna get 18x9s and test it out? Expensive experiment I know.

Might work really well with 2017 models with 4.3 rear.

No, but they're pretty stiff and it's about 5mm I'd need to find. Really not sure it's worth it.

I much rather leave the spare tire in so I can have the cover there, which provides more flat/useful area to store tools and things. Flip the back seat down and stack two tires in the passenger area as forward as possible, and the other two tires flat behind it. Then you can put tools/supplies in the gaps between tires. Tetris is fun!
Hah. Yeah, spare tire definitely out to do this. Just figured I'd mention it in case it mattered to someone.

I don't drive except to/from events or road-trips, so typically everything just stays in the car and there's really no reason to keep the spare in there. I have 4 spares most race days... I'd have a bit of a tough time fitting things as you describe, but that's just due to the specific bits I bring. I'll probably take advantage of this to cut noise levels in the cabin though, it gets really loud with the seat down.

It's going to be fun with 4 tires unmounted, and 4 mounted, all in the car, when I go to get them swapped. I might have to hang one out the drivers side window like I see people do with the steering wheel...

I guess the fit in the car matters more than I anticipated.

Yeah I had thought about that, it puts it about the same as the older models gearing wise. Finding wheels in 18x9 5x100 is tough though, the Rota G-Force and Drag DR-31 are about the only two I know of. Lots of 18x8.5 options though.

Forgestar can make whatever width/offset you need.

Gotcha. Typically when I'm loading the car with tires I'm also travelling out of state for an event, which means room needed for suitcase, etc. It definitely helps sealing off the trunk from the main cabin even with the seats folded down. You need to have your driver's seat far forward enough to do this though; if you want you could push the passenger seat forward instead (and use the room behind it to store tools or whatever) but that blocks your right blind spot pretty bad with STX size tires. With CS sizes it was manageable.

I've given up on 4 tires + 4 wheels all at once - I've done it with stock wheels and 225s, but not sure I can make that work with STX sizes. I take two at a time now. My tire guy moved and is now 30-40 minutes one way, so maybe I will try to be more creative again.

Ugh don't get me started on Forgestar...

Forgot 720 Form sells their GTF2 in 18x9 +35, 18.5lbs. Someone has a set for sale in the classifieds right now for $700.

See. Cheaper than heavy cast 17x9s!

Not legal. Honestly I think the 3.73 rear end from the auto would help more for autox. Much more MPH in 2nd gear. But again not legal.

Did I miss out on some sweet rules-gray-area cheating? :P
I wrote the letter. After Bart posted an awesome review of the Beastronix pedal dance contraption, I liked the concept but wasn't sure it was legal (btw he very much knew I was going to write the letter and encouraged me to do so) http://www.beastronix.com/shop/86nanny-pedal-dance/

There are two versions, one with the ability to disable the ABS, which wouldn't be legal (and is what they're referring to indirectly with the response).

(sorry for the slow reply, it apparently takes a while to get an account authorized, I prefer just lurking...)

14.6D allows for disabling ABS electronically. Does this mean I would need two devices based on this reading (assuming I actually wanted to disable ABS)? That makes no sense at all.

That's a general question for discussion, not directed at anyone in particular.
