Interesting find!

@ LexusFman They kind of did that with the 1st gen tC it is under the Toyota nameplate and called the (2nd gen) Matrix XRS, granted it isn't the same platform as the tC nor a Scion (which I believe you're getting at) but it's close enough to what your saying... and closer to the tC than the 10th gen Corolla XRS is with its torsion beam rear suspension.

Drifting never was, is not and will never be a fucking motorsport. Get a rally program or touring car program, then we can talk.
I suspect the myth comes from the generational differences in the JZs going to VVT-i, which included significant port reshaping. I'm willing to bet a 2nd Gen VVT-i 1JZ outflows a 1st Gen non-VVT-i 2JZ. But I have the opposite, 1st Gen 1JZ and 2nd Gen 2JZ. I'm hoping to see 10-15% more flow.

As for the drifting thing, I know what you mean. It's the only motor competition that's decided by a popularity contest rather than a timing system.

Dragon: I'm getting the feeling that things are going to go your way with the Scion thing. If the Subaru is way overpriced, it's looking like I will be joining you as a (well eventually) proud Scion owner. I wonder how long it'll take me to get over it? Hopefully all it will take is a test drive.

If that is the case, what do you think of the Scion 'fR'?

Its still a motorsport, stop letting your biases towards the sub subculture created by drifting cloud your vision.

And I still like Scion aE

Oh! How about this, the creation of drifting.

Winner: "Dude, I beat you by like 14 seconds on that last run! I'm telling you, you need new rear tires."

Loser: "But I looked better doing it!"

Crowd: "ZOMGWTFBBQ, did you seem him hang the tail out!"

Loser: "Who's the loser now, biatch?"

Winner: (facepalm)

(this is in fun people...)

I have a friend who is convinced that NASCAR drivers are more talented than WRC drivers.

*edit* I just realized that this has nothing to do with this thread. But he still said it. LOL

Just trying to catch my post count up to yours...

Dimman I don't know, I still think it will be a Toyota. You think they will show a Toyota badge all this time and then pull the ol switcheroo? Mayber there might be a Scion version as well as the Toyota. I know one thing, this might be one of the most hyped cars of this decade. If not THE most hyped. Lets just hope it doesn't disappoint after all this building up of the product.

when they advertise "Dimension" why do I automatically think they are going to show a box.... anyone else... have that initial reaction after seeing that site? and...hmm.. for some reason if the MKIII yes im calling it that for Scion's model if they show it, is a good balance between MKI and MKII I'm willing to go up to NY to take a look at it. Like I'll be wiling to take the next flight out just cause. Best case scenerio is if they have a Toyota version a Subie version and a Scion version. The Scion being close to MKI then I think that's a good combo. Worst case scenerio is that SCION had a FWD version that uses the FT86 design study with another engine out of a camry or Corolla(not a bad thing, for some I guess?) Instead of a Boxer. Sigh... the wait time... speculate more ;(
