Mike, have you ever tried running the Continental take-offs? I found them for $350 shipped for a set that has 1-4 heat cycles, 225/45R17. I'm wondering how bad it would be to run these with OEM suspension...

I have not. Outside of a few laps on fresh Hoosier A6 in Robispec's car, I've never driven on anything sticker than fresh Nitto NT01 and Maxxis RC1.

Yes, I drive with the pedal dance 100% of the time on track, unless I specifically have a reason not to (e.g. demonstrating the difference to people; I can replicate it on command).

I've NEVER experienced ice mode.

I also pedal dance for street driving, just in case I need to do an emergency maneuver. I prefer to be in control, because the electronics are not 100% predictable to me.

What are good things to check after a day of pushing the car if we have to drive it back home? Fluids, tire pressure are obvious to me, but anything that is not so obvious?

I have a track day this weekend at Road Atlanta. It looks like it is going to be wet. I read a guide on the s2000 forums about driving in the rain (I have done this at autocross before) and how you have to be smooth on your inputs etc.

My question how do you prep the inside of the car and your self for the rain with the windows down? Should I tape some garbage bags on the door panels? I am planning on wearing a light rain coat. Any other advice would be great.

Tape down some towels if you're concerned about the interior. They'll buffet a but, but won't fly around. Use a lot of tape.

As the driver, you won't get too wet. It's the interior of your car that's the issue. The s2k is much easier to keep dry inside, since... there's nothing behind.

Smooth your inputs, and just remember grip is lower all around. Dramatically lower. It's great for car control practice.

do any of you use the "rain line"

long ago i was told that when it rains, you change it up a few feet to the left or right of the main line for better grip.

while others just stay on the same dry line, but i think this is tire compound dependent?

From the article I mentioned earlier.

Quote:
Line: The line for wet weather driving is different than for dry conditions. You’ll notice that the outside of a turn tends to have more grip than the apex. Try different lines and find which one is the grippiest at any given track. Experimentation is key. Also, due to lack of lateral grip, try to make as many straights as possible with slow small turns in between. Instead of long continuous turns. That way, you can be on the gas more. You know: gas, brake on a straight line, complete the turn as soon as possible, on the gas again. And so on.

Depending on the track and weather/tires, yes.
