Had a buddy in college that did a mineral oil pc. The thing was sweet but he ended up getting some capillary wicking where the oil went up his cables and leaked all over his dorm room.

YUP! High grade mineral oil. It's common for people to add the gravel/coral/castle to get the fishtank look... but for the love of god do not add any fish!

Same principal as watercooling, by running a pump and radiator with fans you are able to wick off gathered heat. The big positive to oil sumbersion is that it can take over an hour for the oil to even get up to normal operating temperatures. The downside is that if you aren't circulating oil evenly then you can end up with hot spots where the components exceed safe temperature, that mostly happens in tight pockets like between multiple gpu's.

Some people also add bubbles to their tank, which they swear helps cooling. I'm a bit unconvinced, but it does look cool!.
