For what? If you can see the curvature of the road it's pretty obvious which way something is going to slide.

If you turn your wheel to the right the back will go to the left.

In a bend it will spin you unless you leave at least VSC active. The only thing stopping it spinning out normally would be the stability control.
Yea I know to spin the wheels you have to turn trac off.

Thanks though, tips. Your wealth of knowledge is OUTSTANDING.

my car steps out quite a bit to the passenger side during straight line acceleration, i haven't had an alignment in quite some time, so i think it's best i get it checked out.

given the recent weather, i can drift sideways from a stand still while going straight, it's rather hillarious. (granted these are somewhat aggressive starts).

The theory of the car stepping to the right because of the road crown is probably the reason why. In my experience on Saturday at least this is probably the reason. The car was barely moving at all, probably an inch every few seconds and with the back spinning away and effectively having no traction at, the crown of the road basically dictated which way the backend would swing out. Stability control isn't going to be able to do anything at all, but if there was enough speed, it would probably apply the brake to the right front to rotate the car around the other way.

Now I guess this could be confirmed by trying this in the left lane, but probably not a good idea with oncoming traffic.

Ohhh, sorry... you meant it's time for an alignment for your car, not mine. I was still half asleep when I read it earlier.

I think he means he's subconsciously correcting for the right trending skid. Most Canadians seem to know how to correct a skid without needing to think about it or, I suspect, without needing to know why it works this way.

It is so ingrained into the average Canadian's driving skill set you can get blank looks if you try to explain skid control to a Canadian.

Mind you, practicing skid control is always a good thing and in the right location it is a lot of fun.

This car will step out easily in the wet so it's as well to develop these skills in winter when everything happens at low speeds. Getting oversteer on dry road in summer temperatures is not as easy, but still doable. Then things can happen quite quickly and winter time experience of similar behaviour is very useful.

Did anybody drive their FRS through winter last year without a clear bra and such?
I'm just wondering how much damage the bumper and hood accumulated. THis is my first full winter with the FRS and I meant to plastidip the front end before the snow hit, but it never warmed up enough for me to do so.

I've been meaning to do that (as if the BRZ needed any less trunk space), but I'm concerned about it sliding around in the trunk.
Have you encountered any movement in those bags? Should I get that, or sand (factoring in also the possible need to use it to get the car out of sticky situations)?

Most of the stuff I put in the BRZ trunk ends up sliding all over the place anyway

Failed drifting last night and scraped the fuck out of my front bumper. And felt a huge thump, wasn't really going fast as it was only 10/km. does anyone know what function does the big white metal piece under your hood do?

Which white metal piece? Are you taking about the plate under the engine? It's a thin skip plate to protect the oil pan and other stuff.

It's white and like a u shape, it's the only piece that sticks out under your hood. I scraped the fuck out of it. Worry it might cause damage to the engine pieces later on.
