I'm on ST coilovers w/ 18x9.5 +40, 255/35 all around. Measured today after settling for a week, I dropped about 1.2" and I have no visible rubbing, although I think my front tires hit the fender once, I hit a shitty bump.

Are there are any info/pictures on that size (18x8.5 +42)?

I was trying to do some research but found no info on that specific size nor have I even seen pictures of anyone with that size.

I really want these rims but I don't want to purchase coilovers; I'm sure I'm not the only one.

What would be the ideal tire size if I were to run 18x8.5 +42 all around with a 1 inch drop so they sit flush and no stretch on the tires? Would 245/35/18 fit or would I need to go smaller?

255/35 on 18x9.5 has just the slightest amount of stretch. I feel like 245/35 might be the slightest too wide, but I'm not sure. I am also not a pro

You're not the only one - I'm in the same boat although getting confirmation that there's no issue after fitting is another story. By my calculation there's 21-22mm clearance stock on the fronts, this size wheel will net you an inset of 13mm which means you'll be left with 8-9mm clearance depending on tyre before lowering - enough ?

Rears are a non issue as there's plenty clearance.

Edit: Have spoken to 3 local Rays wheels suppliers & ALL are 100% confident that there will be NO rubbing on this car with stock struts even 1" lowered using the 18x8.5+42 size, one of them will even guarantee it ! I guess it's fine then.

What would be the ideal setup to run 18x9.5 +40 square closest to your setup without rolling fenders. Im considering fortune auto 500 and bilstein b14 coilovers would I need camber plates or LCA's? What brands would you recommend for these?

i honestly have no clue what you can run without rolling fenders. if you don't want to deal with rubbing done go bigger than a 255/35, even then you may rub.

i don't consider fortune auto a good coilover, bilstein will prevail in my book every time over fortune and once you get into their custom built stuff you open up yourself to much better option than that such as AST, MCS, etc etc... it all depends on your budget.

consider RCE tarmac zero with upgraded swift springs/stiffer rates, or pick up set of KW v3's for a good price and you can simply use your stock tophats for V3's since the front is notched and you can pull camber that way.

i personally do not have camber plates but do have LCA. if your'e on a budget get SPC rear arms. if you want the best of the best get SPL.

if you must have tophats vorshlag, MSI, and raceseng are all quality options. avoid whiteline com-c like the plague.

I'm on the same, ST coilovers, 18x9.5 255/35/18, dropped about 1.5". Only visible rubbing I saw when I jacked it up to change tranny fluid, is a small spot on the inner fenderwell probably from going full lock. No fender issues from what I can tell.

So glad they made 18x8.5 +42 so I don't have to deal with rubbing or getting coil overs. Now just to find the best price for that size...

Any idea where they might sell those wheels in that particular spec?

I'm having a hard time deciding on whether to go with 18x9.5 +40 or 18x8.5 +42 in the rear. It's hard for me to tell how much the 9.5 +40 wheels stick out from flush (poke?). I've seen plenty of above pics of the fronts, but does anyone have pics taken from above for the rears in 9.5 +40s?
