Dear Lord.

Unless she has a rich family to pay this off, I think she's in big trouble. Her life is not going to be quite what she'd hoped for. That's a catastrophe.

You don't want to go down that road, Giccin.

I like your revised plan.

When you look back, ten years down the road, I don't think you're going to want to return to med school. I predict that you'll realize, even more, what a good decision you made back in 2013.

Would H-rated tires be safe on this car? I mean, I don't plan on going 130...

they'd probably be fine, but at Pep Boys we're not permitted to put lower speed rated tires on a car, even if the person is never gonna go that fast

What's their limit on lower rated?

Are you talking about running these on separate rims from your winter tires? You'll have a set of winter wheels and a set of summer wheels?

If so, why would you compromise performance with all season (aka "No-season") tires? Wouldn't that be all cost, no benefit?

Sure, they'd be fine.

My only concern would be re-selling the car with H-rated tires. I'd either swap them to a "spec" tire, or require the buyer to sign a release.

But, I assume you're planning on using these tires up during your ownership.

Yes, stock wheels are my winter wheels with snow tires. I would be getting all-seasons for a couple of reasons. Longer life, slower tread wear being the most important parts. They also cost a bit less than summer tires, so being cheaper and lasting longer is appealing to me. Plus the weather here is pretty unpredictable, so when it starts to cool down towards winter there will be days below 45* and random chances of snow one day, 60* the next. It's happened before.

Exactly.

The higher speed-rated tire might offer benefits despite you never exceeding even 100 mph; a (very likely) stiffer sidewall would offer a number of handling benefits.

So, it isn't just about the top speed attainable, @Nevermore.

Just another thing to consider as you decide.

Gotcha.

Still...

I hate to see you compromise this superb-handling machine with "sedan tires," you know? In reality it's not going to be a night and day difference, but despite your relative inexperience, I'll bet you could tell the difference and appreciate it as well. Your choice, of course.

Michelin Pilot Super Sports, a superb tire, are amazingly "cheap."

What sizes are you considering?

Oh, sure. Just do what the rest of us do up north: In the fall we mount our cold weather tires, and in the spring we swap to our summer high performance tires. That's the benefit of separate winter wheels; we can go with dedicated summer rubber.

We don't wait for the snow to put on our winter wheels. They're for cold weather, not just snow.
