Not necessary to have a controller if you want to just run at the wastegate spring which is what the base tune supports. Not having a controller actually minimizes complexity.

That being said, I would always want a way to dial in boost. Personal preference.

I was speaking within the context of a built motor swap. LOL. I haven't even bought a header yet because I'm not sure they are worth the money yet...

If it were me, I'd have fought with the dealer until a new motor was put in and then limped to someone who knows how to install a damn kit. Or have Tut come down and get a bit dirty myself.

not having a controller would suggest that no one had to take the time to actually set the boost. i.e. it was probably never even checked, let alone monitored.

a controller wont let you lower the boost, so it's not required at all if you're running a 5.8psi spring.

FA20club will set you up proper. Never been lead wrong and i must say one of the best if not the best in reaching your goal safely. My car runs really great and soon will be running in a way different class. I feel safe with them knowing the dedication towards making our cars leaders in the modified segment. Two thumbs up!!!!

so is the current assumption that it went lean at 6psi and det killed it? Or do we think the manifold reference line got kinked or failed in some way. Or...........

You've apparently never seen MacGuyver.

He would have used a rubber band, some gum, a paperclip, and a corn husk.
