Not as much as I expected it to be after seeing the FR-S price.

Good luck. After 6 months or so you might be able to, but until then there will be too much demand and not enough supply. They'll have no reason to work out a deal with you. Especially if Japan is any indication...

Well I'm hoping my combination of being friends with the salesman for ~6 years, being a USAA member, and buying a new Forester from him three months ago will give me some leverage.

I also have a $500 coupon from Subaru towards a new car that I can use.

The automatic has always been an option. I don't have pricing on it but I'd assume it's the same $1,100 it is for the FR-S. My contacts all know I drive cars with a real transmission so none bothered to mention the price of the AT car
