Protest! A car's annoyance factor is part of its competitive makeup, obvs.

Shock talk - Thoughts on the non-remote 2-way MCS's? They're $1000 cheaper than the remote canister ones.

These are a great option for stock class if you haven't bought wheels yet, and don't want to spend the coin for RPF-1's, that seem to bend easily (I've bent 4/8 Enkei's that I have)

send me a PM and I can hook you up with a vendor to buy these through for a great price, and also a vendor that supports the FT86 forum/community.

So they no longer carry the 17x7 +42? That's the one I really wanted to get. Plus I actually like the black with red stripe. Reminds me of Time Attack wheels.

If you have the ability to tune the dampers, the remote canisters give you a gas pressure adjustment that the non-remotes don't seem to have.

I wouldn't know what to do with that as an adjustment, so I'd opt for the non-remotes personally.

Good stuff.

And if you order directly from Maxcy, he will setup a custom spring rate/valving profile for no extra cost vs buying them from somewhere like Vorshlag.

Here's a question.. If I have absolutely no ability to tune dampers (after 15 years of autox and reading), is there any reason at all for me to replace my struts?

In my WRX I had a handful of different setups and finally used STi takeoffs, which were the cheapest and made me the fastest. I'm not sure many of you will "get it" but handling is a complete mystery to me. In the BRZ I can't put a finger on what I think the car should be/is/isn't/feels/want/whatever. My best guess at the moment is that it oversteers on turn-in and pushes midcorner but I couldn't swear by that.

high end dampers make the car feel more connected and inspire confidence.

they absorb the road imperfections instead of transferring it to your backside

if there is a bump or some sort of element which upsets the car, you will traditionally have two types of drivers, those that will adjust their entry to minimize the upset, and those that get ready for the car to get upset and then control whatever happens next

then you have guys with dialed in suspension who will just drive over that bump and not even realize it's there.

I assume "high end dampers" means something better than Konis..? I probably won't be buying struts any time soon.

I will be going with 235/40 Star Specs too. I just have never come around on the RS3's personally.

yes

remember that dampers are a wear/tear item. You should budget a replacement at some point anyway, might as well make it an investment. (unless you plan to sell the car then just get something like KYB GR2 lol)

So do people normally run the B6 or B8?

I believe B8's have lower spring perches than stock for use with lowering springs, so would not be legal for stock without modifications to raise the spring mounting point.

There is some additional discussion of the Bilstein B6 and B8 in the thread referenced above. I am considering revalving Bilstein B6's for my car for CS. However, I am also still considering STX

Where I used to live I had the RS3 V2 and had a codriver. My codriver and I liked the tire. Since I moved somewhere a little colder, has more rain, and I don't have a codriver I'll probably go with the star specs for this season. I may wait to see what other new tires become available as well.
