I don't have the FBM 485 kit but this was covered in the FBM thread because someone else had questions. Apparently the clips which hold the canister together aren't clipped anymore, the assembly does kind of just sit in place once it's all assembled, the pump is held in place by the billet clamps part of the kit.

I think some of the confusion with the coolant lines is due to the fact the base Precision turbo isn't water cooled so the parts list probably wasn't complete for whoever is piecing things together. The "base" GTX turbo doesn't come with anything when you order them, it doesn't even come with a turbine housing.

It's a little odd The Aussie guys thousands of miles away have had issues but the US folks do not seem to be having any problems.

Few other things:

The JDL exhaust doesnt reach to the pipe work after the turbo (could it be because my header didn't fit properly and is causing other issues further down the exhaust line so to speak??).

I still haven't received any water fittings for the turbo.

The 3 inch over/front pipe doesnt fit and is having a crease put in it later today (just as we had to do with the header as it was hitting the engine block).

I cant expect my installer to keep pushing my car around getting it in and out their workshop every other day. Fuck knows what my labour bill is going to be, car isnt even close to getting on the dyno yet. Anymore grief and I can see the lot coming off and going back to Phoenix in a big box at this rate.

Some support would help. Jesse are you there? I've sent a few emails and no reply....
The FBM 485 bowl no longer clips together but floating around is a far stretched reality when actually installed in the tank. The stock pump assembly is MUCH shorter overall so the bowl is required to be clipped together in order to prevent everything from coming apart. On the FBM 485 kit the whole assembly becomes longer so when installed there is literally zero movement because now the pump assembly is sandwiched between the bottom of the tank and the top.

Although I agree that they technically could have made it to where it all clamps together similar to stock or provided instructions, I can assure you the pump asseembly does not float around

I run the same pump

Not being smart or anything but this kit hasnt been proven anywhere yet. What are there 3 customer kits in the states up and running now? My tuner has installed lots of AVO kits (which is all we have on offer here in the UK if you want a turbo) all without one single issue. The price difference (the saving) between the this and the AVO kit has been overtaken now by the extra fabrication and labour to get the kit to fit properly.

I think myself (UK) and diss (Oz) account for a fairly large percentage of part or fully installed customer JDL kits.

Not everyone who has the kit is on the forum, AZFA20 alluded to installing three just at his shop and that doesn't include the couple up and running and tuned in this thread.

I'll adjust it to diss and myself accounting for 10 to 20% of the JDL kits....

Also I'd love to be an owner with a shop to fix all the parts that dont fit on my car properly but I'm just a mere well meaning customer.

Whatever, my kit has required far too much use of the acetylene torch ...and I'm not feeling the love so far.

@AZFA20 only has installed his own JDL kit in his garage. He has installed other FI kits on this platform though. My car was at his shop for a PCV issue I was having and a corner balanced alignment. I believe him @nelsmar and myself are the only ones running them tuned and installed in Phoenix at this point. There are a few more of the base kits being installed at other shops and home garages as we speak down here. Those should all be up and running within the next week or so I would think.

The coolant fitting were overlooked due to the fact that we were using the Precision units. Those that got GTX turbos with their kits will get them. We have a stocking order due in tomorrow. Steve your fittings were sent out last week.

There are a few of you guys that purchased the kit minus Turbo, BOV, and Wastegate due to the fact you had another kit prior to purchasing ours. Since you opted on keeping those parts we were under the assumption you also kept the needed hardware for those items. We only include those parts with the purchase of turbo/wastegate/bov from us.

I will be contacting you all and will get things sorted

Cool. I'm sure this kit works well if you live in/near Phoenix.

My tuner will get it all working/eventually. I'll just have to open a used metal tubing shop to sell off the bits they've cut off just to try and offset my labour bill.

I'm off down the pub now so I can rant at some barman who couldn't give a shit and probably drives a ford.

No fittings arrived yet. PM or email me the tracking number pls.

I'm sure we'll get there in the end but I will take you up on a chat as the header and overpipe non fitment modifications have cost me.

Good ol' Jimmy Buffet "It's 5 o'clock somewhere" haha. I want a long distance beer too

Just think, soon you will be boosted and and everything won't seem so bad. Hang in there, it's worth it. Perhaps these things are growing pains and as JDL has mentioned it makes things better for those in the future who didn't take the early adopter plunge as we have. The guys at JDL really are good people and are not out to get anyone.

I hear you. I was just pissed because it's been a couple of things in quick succession followed by a tally up of my install labour costs. I'll be happy as Larry once it's running. Gotta go as my good friend Mr Stella Artois is calling my name in the warm evening beer garden.

First of all I am really sorry to hear about all the issues you're having, hopefully they get resolved. In JDL's defense however I live across the country from AZ and have had 0 fitment issues what so ever. I was missing some vband clamps but JDL has been quick to respond to any and all questions/concerns I've had.
