I had it on but I was running the base tune. I currently don't have a switch to turn it on/off. To turn it off requires going in the engine bay and either disconnect a wire or clamp a boost hose. I was lazy.

We did a run on the dyno with the base tune and the meth on... no difference. To get the benefits of the meth you have to tune the timing advance and the AFR.

Ahh I got you, I just thought the video comparison was trying to make apples to apples.

Also think of all the blown 350 chevy's without intercoolers.

This being a very efficient small twin screw means that unless you are an open track racer an intercooler may just get in the way.

May find that the psi drop across the intercooler hurts more than can be over come with a smaller pulley on pump gas (pushes the blower out of its efficient zone.) Most factory boosted engines have at least double the Innovate.

I'm just trying to say that at low boost with a positive displacement blower an intercooler isn't always "right." The Innovate is such a clean install without the intercooler.

E85 isn't an option for a daily drivers in most places but is probably the smartest solution for racing.

For DD ownership, , most folk's goal with these cars is to own a budget Cayman-R. Now that is a <14" quarter mile car. The FA20 really just needs more midrange torque and about +40 top end HP to push this car into that ballpark, right ?

I hope we see some success stories soon, your post in the other thread where you logged knock with the stock setup and none with the Vortech + tune is a big deal (should add that to the video series.) That factoid me itching to say screw Toyota and make this engine sing!

alright! mine should be arriving tomorrow, and I will attempt to post logs (still haven't been able to log with my car now, since I had the tune done on john's computer), but i'll try to figure it out. I'm also going to be doing a dyno day, and dragstrip meet in august, so hopefully I'll have gotten remote tuning done by @FA20Club.com, so we'll see what it's capable of with supporting breathing mods.

Installed 99% of it tonight. Quick question for those who have already installed it.

The kit comes with a brake booster line, but it specifically states it fors RHD only. Yet I see in @moto-mike 's install he used it. Was going to bolt down the charger and the stock line is in the way, so i'm assuming I need to use the brake booster line. Mistake in the labeling maybe?

Other than that, I just need to bolt down the charger and put the belt on/boost tube. Super simple install.

I started around 9:30 and came in the house around 1:45, but i was screwing around with that stock brake booster line for about 30 minutes or so because I couldnt get the supercharger to sit flat. So that consisted of me taking it out like 4 times lol.

I'm not an owner so I'm breaking the rules by posting but you might have seen my car on an avo turbo kit. Well, the sprintex installation is finished on my bro's car now and it's getting tuned next week on 98 ron!

We will swap cars as much as possible and post some feedback!

If you run an air-to-water intercooler setup the pressure drop is usually less than 0.3psi on most cores.

Think about what you are comparing! The compression ratios between those engines are light years apart, and factory boosted engines are generally built with different parts than N/A engines (materials, clearances, heat tolerances, etc.).

'84 non-intercooled Turbo Buick stock compression ratio - 8.0:1

2013 FA20 engine in FT86 stock compression ratio - 12.5:1

That Buick's final compression ratio @ 8psi is 12.4:1 - still less than the FT86 from the factory before the supercharger.

The FT86's final compression ratio @ 8psi is 19.4:1 - even N/A Diesel engines don't run that high...and they need heat for their compression cycle.

Those 2 engines do not make for such a great comparison, as they are far too different.
