Both Subaru and Toyota will be doing there own interior designs.

I think Subaru is the main engineer, with Toyota having a big hand in direct injection and bring their relationship with Yamaha into play and marketing/promotion.
Subaru has zero experience in RWD tuning. Although the chassis is based on an existing Subaru platform, you can bet that the majority of the RWD conversion and chassis tuning work is done by Toyota.

I said the same thing a couple of post back. I just don't see how you can open the boot with that big ass wing if it's not a liftback?

Anyways why not use ZF, Tremec or Getrag transmissions? You have a handicapped boxer which can't get out of it's own way, you lost the big flares but added a big wing and now your giving us one of the worst transmissions?

My experience is different. Aisin built the extremely reliable and tough R154 Turbo 5-speed transmission for the Supra Turbo, as well as its little brother the W58. While the W58 couldn't hold nearly the same power (like, anywhere close), it was never designed to. It also built the 4-speed auto version for both the 3rd gen Supra N/A and 3rd Gen turbo. I have experience with both, and both were not only reliable for those day and age auto transmissions, but they were both still some of the smoothest and fastest shifting Torque Converter auto transmissions I've ever used.

Frankly I'm not worried.
I just hope they design it strong enough for extreme applications then.

I don't think it's the worst transmission. I remember reading it somewhere, Aisin is used in Porsche 911 GT2. That sucker needs the most solid transmission, why Porsche picked Aisin for it?

The years before 03 even have a know synchromesh problem.

I have an 03, and at 45,000 miles (I only bought it at 42,000 miles) the gears were grinding. Had it fixed under warranty. I can only assume either the last owner was horrible, or the transmission sucked. Considering the car was mint, I doubt the owner was that bad.

Change it, or don't do anything at all. For 25K, You got RWD, Boxer, chick magnet, D-4S, and light weight. You can't demand more.

I think each manufacturer probably has their crappy models? (I have never owned a car btw, just to clarify) The Ford Mustang gearbox that grinds and fails to shift is a Getrag...No idea about the other companies though.

Wow, assumption junction whats your function?

Spreading misinformation and judging before anything concrete has come out....

Yeah, I didn't try to rhyme it.

As I stated, Aisin has made some extremely reliable and power proof transmissions in the past. I can't help but notice that most of the 'trouble' transmissions are actually transaxles.

"Can't get out of its own way." Not even gonna chime on this...its like beating a dead horses dead great grandfather.
