I honestly think I am reading this incorrectly...
Are they really saying marriage is only about making the other person happy?.....
He did say exactly that. But he also clarified by saying that making the other person happy with the purpose being to generate reciprocity. The end result being both parties end up making each other happy. Instead of just selfishly mooching off the other's hard work.

Yeah. I didn't notice it at first because it was on top of your hooded sweatshirt that's covered shiny graphics. I'm wearing it now though, so it's safe.

Well, my seat has left Italy. Unfortunately I think that was the last of the tracking info I'll have. Now we get to see if customs decides to hang onto for no reason for a really long time whilst keeping me in the dark.

I'm glad you liked it; I thought you might.

I've always liked it, and I immediately made a note of it as I read his book. It raises interesting questions, doesn't it? Although, that might be best reserved for private discussion.

Here's another that I liked from a different work of his:

“It takes very little to govern good people. Very little. And bad people can’t be governed at all.”
No Country for Old Men, by Cormac McCarthy

Maybe I am missing the point of this silly overrated article?
I don't think you're missing the point.

The issues raised are worthy of discussion. However, I found this article online, read many of the comments, and I must say that the prospects look poor for you finding anyone amongst your peers with whom to have a FRUITFUL discussion.

Do you recall what I observed about the differences between YOU and your cohorts?

They become painfully obvious at moments like this.

I recently read of a British study showing that twenty-somethings' marriages deteriorate markedly around two and a half years. I'd be surprised if even half of them could manage to stay married for as little as five years.

Did I mention to you, Ash, to steer clear of romantic entanglements while in college?

For giggles:

“If all men knew what each said of the other, there would not be four friends in the world.”
–Blaise Pascal (French mathematician, physicist, writer, and philosopher; 1623-1662)

And for you, Ashley:

“…two roads diverged in a wood, and I –
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.”

The Road Not Taken, by Robert Frost (American poet and playwright; 1874 – 1963)

Whilst I've never even been to the UK, I've seen Monty Python & The Holy Grail over 147 times, which legally warrants dual citizenship. So... take that for what it's worth, I guess.

Does anyone know of a good source to look up concerts over a broad area? The only things I know to do are check specific venue's sites or specific bands' sites. I'm not looking to see anyone in particular, but I'd like to see what's going on within a 2 hour driving radius around me in December. I already checked the House of Blues New Orleans calendar, and outside of the Air Sex Championships (too scared to use government computer to research what that is) nothing interesting in December. I'm about to resort to looking up all the venues I know of, one by one, but ugh...
