Sorry to interrupt the uncomfortable humor, but does anyone know if US dealerships can order parts from other markets, such as Europe or Asia? The email has already been sent to my local Scion parts department, but who knows when they'll finally respond. I also specifically told them I'm deployed and don't have phone access, but the form forced me to input a phone number (I hope they don't seriously dial 555-1234, because that's what they got) but I wouldn't be surprised if they never responded by email.

Thanks! Sometimes I worry people will think I'm serious, but then I remember it doesn't really matter, and post whatever I was going to post anyway.

And yes, no more Middle Eastern sand for me for a while! Can get back to that good ol' coarse Gulf Coast sand. Middle Eastern sand is more like powder, for those of you that didn't know. It's extremely extremely fine.

I honestly think I am reading this incorrectly...
Are they really saying marriage is only about making the other person happy?.....

Ashley, dear… This comes under the heading of "Yes. Isn't it pretty to think so."

Self-delusion tends not to work out well in the end, however nice it may seem initially. Besides, I think you already know better than what this article is espousing.

For an alternative, consider the views of W. Somerset Maugham (English novelist, 1874-1965). I think you might find greater value in listening to him, than to this very young kid and his well-meaning dad. (I'll leave it to you to pursue, if it interests you. Did I ever tell you that your real education is the one that you pursue on your own? College has little to do with your education in Life.)

I have repeatedly asked my wife over the years, "How much should the grown-ups reveal to the kids. Is it Right to tell them everything?" To this day, neither of us has a comfortable answer. There are pros and cons… I really don't know.

[The speaker is observing marriage festivities in a small village...]

"He stood at the window of the empty cafe and watched the activities in the square and he said that it was good that God kept the truths of life from the young as they were starting out or else they’d have no heart to start at all.”
–“All the Pretty Horses,” by Cormac McCarthy (author, 1933–)

I believe McCarthy would have been around sixty when he penned those words.

Ashley, did you ever read that email I sent to you about "Why am I in college?" I'd like to know, at least, that you read it.

Thanks,

Porsche (Your surrogate Dad. One can never have too many of them; you never know when one of them might actually say something useful. )

For "a while?"

I do hope that you're not subject to yet another tour of duty.

Oh, I'm sure I will be eventually. I've only been in 5 years. 15 more to go before retirement.

I really like that quote, even though I am not 60 I can tell how true it is.

This article keeps the coming up on my Facebook feed - everyone seems to love it.
And here I am thinking- if you give everything you got to someone in hopes they will be mature enough to do the same you will be unhappy.

As selfish as it may sound sometimes you have to focus on YOU and what you need or want from the marriage...
Marriage is about BOTH people being happy, not just giving everything to the other in hopes they will reciprocate...
Maybe I am missing the point of this silly overrated article?? who knows.

This was just what I've took from it.

And no I never saw it! Resend it
I can't open it at work, but I will try to view it later at home when I have time
