I doubt it. The issue never affected WOT performance it was always an idle issue. The issue may be with the system retarding the cam which it does at idle versus advancing everywhere else.

Correct. As I stated earlier too, my FR-S runs fine at higher rpm and does not seem low on power. On the other hand the idle dip is still present and the engine shudders for 1-2 seconds almost every time I come to a stop. I don't consider this 'fixed' even though SCION Canada and my dealership say it is. I have not been back because unless the car has a CEL, they are going to say there is nothing wrong.

Still hoping by the end of the week the car is gone. Maybe friday if something actually goes right for a change.

I've got my mom in the hospital (never coming home) and my dad who needs help. I just want one thing to go right this week please and thankyou.

You forgot that your results will vary after the trio of fixes...reflash, new ecu, new cam hardware. For some, the issue is at idle, for others, it is elsewhere.

Considering that several owners have stated that they "feel" down on power after the reflash, it's not an impossibility. Whether its attributable to the ECU relearning, or a miscalibrated butt-dyno, the issue has been noticed.

Sorry to hear, Rob, and my empathy. I can tell you from experience that things do get better eventually if you keep your chin up.

I don't know if I've seen a case where the issue was present at anything other than idle.

It will take someone being on the dyno to really tell if there is a true power difference. I've seen as many reports of people saying the car doesn't feel any different after the ECU/reflash as those saying it feels down on power. I don't really trust either case, people feel what they want to feel usually unless there is a real big difference.

But idle does point to issues with the cam being retarded, maybe the swing is too great for the ECU to deal with or it happens too slowly. Here is an excerpt from the 08 STi manual on how it operates on that engine, not sure I've seen it posted here before. Keep in mind the BRZ FA20 is probably a little different but same basic principle.

When did your car go into the shop?

I just heard a good one from a Toyota service rep I called about them denying to fix my chirps for the second time and he said we are working on it the boxer motor is still kinda new... I replied it was patented by Karl Benz in 1896 and was one of the first motors used in a car I use to work for GM I know a lot about car history... I was told we'll look into it have a nice day.

maybe I will get a dyno done for shits and giggles since I have had parts replaced and ecu flash...once I get some $$. I have noticed the my car runs better than day one since I only remember the dreaded limp mode. It will prob be a month but I will post up results day of!

According to my step-father who works at Toyota corp in Torrance, they have found the problem and replaced the ECU's in all cars coming off the line from the past month. I received my car 2 weeks ago, have never noticed any of the problems listed.
