I don't expect you to get it, but it is a simple fact. It is. The Supra, especially the MkIV is an awesome car, a legendary GT/sports-tourer in it's own right. It's fast, it handles very well (contrary to popular belief), is gorgeous and was at least a decade ahead of it's time. Great piece of engineering.
The MR2 however, is a better sports car (note I did not say faster) because of a simple few fact; - The engine is mounted where it belongs. Between the front and rear axis of the car, in this case, behind the driver. - It handles and more importantly, feels better than the Supra. - It is far lighter than the Supra. Even with only 245hp, it has a similar power-weight ratio. Lighter is better. |

Have you ever driven a mk4 Supra twin turbo? I'm sorry i just can't agree with that statement except that the MR2 is a great car but not better then the Supra, are you high. If you lived here in Toronto or come by in the Summer, give me a shout. I would gladly show you how the Supra preforms, although my brother owns it now ![]() ![]() .

Ya I've driven a TT Supra and no, it handles and feels NOTHING like an MR2. Sorry, but the Supra just doesn't feel like a true sports car to me, it feels too heavy and the center of gravity is too high.

![]() says the man driving a kia forte koup, i kid, i kid. Although you are right about the Supra being heavier , the weight distribution is very good, 51% in the front, 49" in the rear. Despite what people may think, the Supra handles very well around corners. I should re-phrase my question, have you ever driven a mk4 Supra twin turbo at the track to its limits? Stock vs stock the Supra wins You well never be able to tell unless you take it to the track.

I just recently sold my Supra to my brother and so i only have my beater(96 golf) , although i am buying a new car soon just not completely sure on what kind?Anyways thats what i meant because you drove both cars on the streets, the MR2 felt more secure because of it's more narrow body and less weight, but if you took them both to the track i bet you would be pleasantly surprised on the Supra, mind you that the MR2 is better at cornering then the Supra, it isn't that much better.

The MR2 made you feel like you were in a cockpit, the turbo was about 6 inches away from your head and when it spooled up it was music to my ears. Whereas the Supra felt too comfortable and was pretty quiet (stock).

Yes I have; Have you driven an MR2 turbo? Is your Supra stock? It's a different experience. I'm not saying the MR2 is quicker. It's not. Being a better sports car is not always about the speed. it's about the feel. I'm not saying the Supra is bad. Quite the contrary. It is excellent in most aspects. No need to get butt hurt (like I expected you guys to). I opine that the Supra is one of the best sports cars of it's day, even up to today. Doesn't change the fact that I think that the MR2 is a better sports car. Being a supra guy, I don't expect you to think otherwise (and I say that knowing I will probably end up buying a MkIV sometime in the future), so we can just agree to disagree. |
