For those of you planning to use the Toyota recommended specs for these wheels what tires are you considering? There aren't too many choices for the front 215/40R18, even less when you narrow it down to all season tires. I live in SoCal so we don't get much rain, but this would be a daily driven so I'd rather go with an all season tire versus a purely summer tire.
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSe...erformance=ALL Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 seems like a logical choice but it only has a rating of 85Y, the stock tires are 87W. I was under the impression that the weight rating must be equal or higher? Is that correct? That leaves the Continental ExtremeContact DWS or the Yokohama AVID W4S. Opinions? Or is everyone just planning to run summer tires? |

This really would be much easier if we were 100% certain that 225/40R18 on 18x7.5 fit in the front without rubbing as the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 in that size has a load rating of 92. That would be my preferred setup. Easier to buy tires that size and the ability to rotate too.

I almost feel like I should order just two of the 7.5" P/N wheels and get two 225/40R18 tires and see if they fit on the front. If they don't, and rub, I could just put them on the back and pickup the two 7" for the front.
Thoughts? |

TRD USA Wheels
If these are same offset as stock, you should have no problem fitting a 225 wide tire on a 7.5" wide wheel. I have 225/45-17 (1% larger diameter than stock) on an 8" with a 45 offset (3mm more aggressive than stock).

225/40-18 should be very close to that. Considering the 9" wide wheels and such I see under a lot of these vehicles, I'd think that if you are rubbing at all on the strut, 5mm spacers should sort you out. Stock studs are long enough for that long of spacer.

18x7.5 +35 wheels with 225/40R18 in front should NOT rub at all. 7.5J+35 is like adding 19mm(48-35+6) spacer from OEM wheels (7J+48). I think something wrong with Speeeddemon99 setup that cause rubbing not the wheels itself. Sway bar proper install? Last edited by 86Toyobaru; 10-04-2014 at 04:42 AM. |

I think there are two difference if you take a close look. One is the bolt location and the other is lip pattern. Other than that they almost look the same. Size 18X8J +35/+45.
