That is patently false.

Actually I don't know. I just wanted to make pun of your comment.

Well, in actuality it's a trademark. In general, you patent a product or process, a copyright is used for a "work of art or creativity", so you copyright a book but you trademark a product name.

I believe the article refers to it as a trademark as well.

Thank you for the correction I was thinking of Trademark, but I'm loopy from percoset (torn or ruptured achilles tendon).

a patent is solely for a device or creation or process though was my point.

Jaden <-----------------holds several patents.

Who cares... Think most people get the general idea. Moving on now.

A Closer Look at the Lexus LF-LC Production Prototype

It’s been twenty-four hours since a production prototype of the Lexus LF-LC concept was spotted in California — let’s take a closer look at the two images and how they compare to the original concept.
The first image is from a rear three-quarter angle, and lines up quite well with this Wikipedia photo:

The overall shape of the prototype is very close to the concept, with clear indicators like the now-signature swoop before the rear wheel and the sharp edge dropping down from the rear light.
The prototype’s rear has been bulked up considerably, losing some of the sharpness of the concept but gaining significant storage space in the trunk. The second spy shot shows the rear straight on, so let’s line it up with an image of the LF-LC for comparison:

Again, the prototype appears to carry over much of the LF-LC’s design, though there’s definitely some softening of the lines and angles. There’s also something strange about the roof of the prototype — it appears to be elevated unnaturally, which might mean the floating glass roof from the concept hiding underneath.

If this LF-LC production prototype is indeed driving around California, I’m sure we’ll see more spy shots in the coming days, but early indications are that has Lexus stayed true to the original concept.

Scoop: Lexus LF-LC front fascia spied for the first time

Quote:
Just two days back, we saw the first spy shots of the Lexus LF-LC, but those pictures didn’t reveal the prototype’s front. Here’s the first image of the Lexus LF-LC revealing its front, shot our friend Daniel DeRosa. In his note, he said that the test mule was spotted at Angeles Crest (in California, USA).

Unlike the concept, the test mule doesn’t feature the single frame Spindle grille apparently, but that must be just a measure to not make the car’s identity obvious to prying eyes. The previous spyshots hinted at L-shaped tail lamps, similar to the concept that featured integrated tail- and fog-lamps in the ‘L’ shape.

The Lexus LF-LC concept was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in January 2012. The 2-door coupe concept featured a rear-wheel drive layout and a 2+2 seating. The company announced that it was powered by the Advanced Lexus Hybrid Drive hybrid powertrain, keeping rest of the specifications a secret.

LF-LC will most likely be a new TNGA platform that will become the archtechture for future Lexus series.

TNGA is making its first appearance later this year with the 2016 Prius that's rumored to become the basis for the next Camry. Completely different segment than LF-LC, obviously, but the new Prius is said to be longer, wider, have a lower CG and be almost 200 lbs. lighter than the car it replaces, all good news for TNGA platforms. TNGA will also help to keep costs under control through shared use and giving the ability for manufacturing plants to respond quickly to changing market demand. TNGA white papers show the new method will be in use worldwide, allowing series production to be changed in an hour, satisfying demand and local content rules.

Meanwhile, who wants to wrap their car in prototype camo and keep 'em guessing?

Production Lexus LF-LC Coupe Coming to Detroit Auto Show in January?

Quote:
Lexus USA general manager Jeff Bracken spoke with Reuters during an industry conference in Michigan yesterday, and he dropped a major hint about what to expect at the Detroit Auto Show in January:

“We need a flagship. It doesn’t have to be a sedan,” Jeff Bracken, Lexus division general manager, told Reuters on the sidelines of an industry conference.

Bracken would not say what type of vehicle the second flagship Lexus would be. “In addition to the LS (a large sedan), there could be another flagship in our lineup,” Bracken said. “We’ll define what it is in January.”

There could be some major surprise planned, but based on existing rumors and simple logic, Bracken has just revealed that the production version of the LF-LC concept will debut in January.

There was another quote from Bracken in the Reuters article regarding a possible three-row crossover:

Lexus also is looking to strengthen its SUV lineup by offering a version of the midsize RX SUV with a third row seat. An RX with room for seven or eight passengers is the No. 1 request from U.S. Lexus dealers, Bracken said. A new RX is due this fall but will not have a third row seat.

“We don’t want to wait for a next generation” to add the extra seating row, Bracken said.

There are two ways to read this — is Bracken suggesting a third-row option could be added to the RX or that an all-new model will fill the obvious gap in the Lexus lineup? How do you interpret this quote?

There is an all-new LX with third row seating in the pipeline due to be revealed by year end but it's another price segment.

Assuming this article is true: http://www.autoblog.com/2015/08/06/l...agship-report/
then I'm guessing that the before mentioned coupe could be a flagship/high-end vehicle.

What? I read it on the 'net, it must be true.

Of course, I also read that the long-rumored Cummins diesel Tundra/Sequoia will debut as a 2016 too.
