Ouch ! Them suckers are expensive. You've got some nice stuff there, would you say the SQ using the BitOne is the equal or better of a proper pre-out on a good aftermarket HU ? The only reason I would keep my GTS HU is purely & simply cos it's 200mm wide, otherwise I would just go Alpine Are they reliable ?

The Eclipse head he is using has pre-outs for front rear and sub.

Seriously as this is my first ever modded car audio system I would have no idea. From what Melou from Lifestyle Store indicated, if you're going for a flat signal from a pre out, almost any aftermarket unit would be fine.

That doesn't count for the spacing of the speakers, their location and firing angles or any quirks the speakers themselves have. A DSP when used with a spectrum analyser is much more flexible and can go a long way to fixing all of those secondary issues so that the sound is best where your ears actually are.

In the case of the Audison Bit One, it can equalise up to 8 separate channels each with a 33 bar equaliser (much more adjustable than the head unit) and then adjust the time delay so that it reaches your ears at the right time.

It will also De-equalise any high level outputs from your head unit if you have no pre outs so that you once again have a flat signal to work with.

I was there last weekend and Rodney told me about you. Saw some snaps of the sub in the wheel well too. Looks awesome! And I'm sure for $6700 it sounds awesome too.

The BitOne is a really neat unit. I was a bit skeptical when I first bought it, but now I plan to integrate a processor into all my audio builds. The level of control you get from it is worth the $800. Simple.
@Yich: No sound deadening?

My mistake. I quickly skimmed through the list and didn't see "dynomatt". =P

Glad to see someone was helped, but yeah Rodney advised that the Focal BAM was the better stuff for sound deadening. I still wish he'd forward me those pics though since I don't know my way around a camera.

SPeaking of sound upgrade, I read that stock sound on both BRZ and 86 are pretty crap. I haven't got my 86 yet, but just wondering, if I set aside say $500 (boss wife won't let me spend so much on this) to upgrade the sound system, will I be able to get any improvement at all over the stock?
I don't need audiophile quality, but at the very least sound decent.

Based on what I read from elsewhere on the internet, you can expect some improvement by changing the stock head unit for that price, assuming you install it by yourself. How much though I'm not too sure of.

General internet advice indicates that sound deadening provides the greatest improvement to sound quality for cost but you won't be able to get that installed by someone else either if you go down that route for $500.

The sound deadening 6x0.5m worth of Focal BAM for example only costs $329.

I've also read on an 86 forum somewhere that if you happen to have one of the eclipse/Fuji-ten units on both the 86 or brz, it actually has a 7 band equalizer that people have managed to get decent sound out of after setting the fader to R2.

I'd listen to the stock unit for a few weeks first to see if it's for you before deciding like I did.

It was one wiring kit (2gauge) and according to what I've researched, Focal BAM is lighter than dynamat but performs better because it's actually 3 different types of sound deadening rolled into one.

Yeah also read a bit about sound deadening. Im not a good DIYer at all - When you mentioned 329 bucks that's only for the material? or including installation as well?

That's just the material. Sound deadening is expensive when u do it right.

Strange. Ek35 is only $199 RRP http://www.focalaustralia.com.au/sho...ite-power-kit/
