I haven't seen it mentioned on any Australian forums.
I have seen it mentioned that US diesel is some of the lowest quality in the world, unless that's changed with the new diesels being sold there recently? Maybe the past low tech nature of the engines because fuel consumption, with the cheap fuel, hasn't encouraged change, means the fuel standard needs to be upgraded to suit modern engines?

I have been using Sunoco/Petro Canada Ultra 94 gasoline, which contains "up to 10%" ethanol. On my next fill, I'll try Shell 91 which contains no ethanol, and see if it makes any difference. I have some good 2-stroke oil here, but I hesitate to try this in case it causes an issue with the catalytic converters.

Some people either don't notice (have the stereo crank way up) or the chirping noise just haven't started yet.

Thanks. So it looks like we also have crap fuel or only Japan has a special lubricating additive? Are you game to try a bit of 2T to see if it shuts it up?
If it's squealing at idle because it's dry can you imagine what it's doing at normal rpm?
You make the auto sound a good thing.

Two stroke oil that's designed to dilute in gasoline and lubricate metal surfaces. The same stuff everyone uses in their chain saws.
Just get a good quality racing oil and use a much smaller amount.

What could be better???

This is a logistic nightmare. So I have to put some of this everytime I fill the tank?

I really, really dislike this option.

Is everyone who is promoting the It's-the-lack-of-lube-in-USDM-gas theory content, then, with the idea that the BRZ-FRS appears to be the only direct injection engine in the US that has a problem with USDM gasoline? Does this make sense?
