Destiny Raid Groups/ General Discussion

I'm going to start up again a week or two before HoW drops to get back into the swing of things.

For me, everything about The Dark Below was a bust, the "story" missions, the new weapons/armor, the re-leveling of exotics, the additional currencies and most disappointing of all was the Raid. That shit is just tedious, almost never fun, and basically relies on 1 person not fucking up for you to be able to beat it while the other 5 teammates stand around doing essentially nothing.

They really need to pick up the quality in HoW or my return will be short lived. There's too many other great games out right now to waste my time doing the same thing over and over again.

Level 32 doesn't help you with anything except for the raid, especially hard mode. Therefore that's where you acquire gear. It's not a new concept introduced by Destiny.

1.1.1 is out. Players no longer drop heavy ammo in crucible. Thank god. After a match last night where I continuously got wiped out by a Truth over and over again, I'm glad to see it go. Even if I've had my fair share of Jolder's Hammer usage for half a match games.

Glad to hear that they didn't nerf my hawkmoon. Players report no noticeable difference. Hawkmoon is still king.

1.1.1 seems like a good effort. Some decent quality of life changes.

Hearing mixed things about hand cannons, some say the initial accuracy is really bad now. Range seems unaffected.

The best way to decipher all the changes and how they affect your play style would simply be to just go and play Crucible. No point in speculating as the patch is already live haha.

I'm staying strong on my break from this game unless Xur has something worthwhile on Friday (no chance that'll happen).

Although I picked up a Bad Juju right before I took a break and this latest patch is making me want to try it out.

You'll find less and less of us are these days. But most of us started at launch and have just run out of things to do.

I would try to play with you but the East Coast/West Coast thing makes it hard.

I certainly agree with you about the light level. Certainly you don't need to be level 32 unless you plan on running the Raid in Hard Mode. Of course, I think the point he was trying to make and I know it is certainly true for me is the fact that Bungie has basically said "this is the only way you can progress to max light level".

Personally, and this is only my opinion, I think it's BS. If they want to make Raid armor unique, they certainly can do it by giving it a unique "appearance" and "special" perks that you couldn't get anywhere else. However, saying this is the only way to attain max light level is not cool IMO. I have my personal reasons for it. I would imagine most people play video games first and foremost is to have fun which this game has certainly done that for me. I'm really not complaining about the fun factor. However, I would imagine another main reason people play these type of video games is for the sense of accomplishment. While I don't need to be level 32 for almost all aspects of the game, it isn't about "needing" to be 32 it's about that sense of accomplishment. When you're stuck at level 31 (or 29) it gets a little old. Now I know you'll come back and say "then go Raid"! Which takes me back to my original points, I don't want this game to be a chore when I play it, the fun goes out the window for me at that point. Also, to be honest, I've enjoyed the Raids when I have had the opportunity to do them but I have no desire to GRIND the Raids. That gets old real fast especially when you consider the effort of finding a group and then the time to run and complete it. Especially when Bungie keeps changing things and often introducing bugs into the Raid. That's how I got so turned off the Raids. I remember when I first started running VoG, we'd have so many issues with bugs or people getting booted to orbit that we'd spend 3 hours trying to beat Atheon only to have people start dropping out due to Rage quits etc. It got old real fast.

I was really hoping when Bungie stated with the release of TDB, that they had taken the meme "stuck at 29" seriously and so (naively) I thought they were actually going to create alternate paths to attaining max light level. Of course, that turned out not to be the case. Supposedly, the only change they made was to "increase" the drop rates in the Raid and I do believe that is partly true with my impressions of what people have been getting. With that being said, I've done it a few times now, only completed it once due to bugs/issues with Crota (go figure) and I so far have only got the leg and chest armor. Then there's the whole Radiant shards issue needed for upgrading armor which means you have to grind the Raid. Go figure. That's why I am done with the game for now. Time to find something else to play in the mean time until HoW drops. Hopefeully, as f0rge pointed out, Bungie will make some drastic changes for the better this time.
