I think the point @ultra has, is that once you add power, you start shifting over to the mentality of the Corvette/GT-R/Porsche drivers, and start using the power in a straight line as a crutch. You start to focus more on corner exit to get on the power, rather than the corner itself.
Not many drivers here are experienced enough to not use the power as a crutch. |

What I would expect to see is the OP use the search button for the 20 or so previous supercharger versus turbocharger threads, but that would be wishful thinking. The ultimate question the OP asked was about reliability, so I will get this back on track by saying that reliability/maintainability is in the hands of the owner. All the kits have had some reliability issues, but being able to maintain a kit is the owner's responsibility.

Have literally all of the kits on the market had reliability issues? I think I've seen at least a few circumstances of engine compartment heat issues with all of the front mount turbo kits, but what reliability issues have we seen with the superchargers and other turbo kits?

The Jackson Racing SC kit as far as I know has had zero reported issues since launch from their owners and is also the only FI kit to date for these cars to have a flawless launch and adoption period for both street and track applications. @CSG Mike can speak to that with more validity since his shop has sold quite a few JR SC kits. |

Good news is that vortech seems to have adequately addressed all the issues that cropped up with their kit.
On phone I am. Therefore, if mistakes I make, Frank Oz blame you should.

Some people want to be fast drivers, while others want to have fast cars. Some people are slow drivers in slow cars, while the gifted rare ones are fast drivers in fast cars. Everyone wants to believe that they're a fast driver, and that they have a fast car, just how everyone wants to believe that they made the right decision in purchasing any given part or modification. To each, their own. You can't change the mind of someone who's not open to a different viewpoint. |

Talked about tracking the BRZ in hpde & time attack with some NASA - AZ folks last night. They advised against FI... Yet. I definitely want to do it eventually, but am becoming increasingly convinced to hold off on it for a while. Cooling, suspension, longevity, and driver skill (not necessarily in that order) are things I ought to invest in right now. Hopefully that'll let me take maximal advantage of FI when I finally do get it. On phone I am. Therefore, if mistakes I make, Frank Oz blame you should.

FWIW, if Vortech is your FI AND you plan to track the car (spirited drives included), suck up the cost of upgrading to their heavy-duty version. Otherwise the lesser of the 2 kits is perfect for an ornamental-only standpoint.
