it looks like sh!t opened or closed [if you got the rear seats folded]...

i hear many people say this car is for "the pure driving experience" or something along those lines, but this just screams CHEAP CAR...

the part should be easy enough to source and not too expensive, i'd assume, so i will be slapping one on asap...

seeing things like this makes me worry what else they skimped on, especially where it's less visible (~_~)
Ok... so buy one from subaru.. issue solved.... Or for that matter by a subaru and stop complaining.... some people are never happy, for that matter why not complain about full leather interior, turbo, push button start, what ever. It is what it is, either you like it or you don't, no one is forcing you to buy it, if you want a higher grade buy a limited BRZ... Oh thats right you want everything for nothing.... get real.

Since the BRZ limited has one then, you can expect an aftermarket one or maybe even order the BRZ's if it's not an optional accessory.

It honestly kind of bothers me but it's not a deal breaker.

Getting a bit carried away here, aren't we? What would it cost to glue a little carpet to the inner trunk lid - $7? Even the cheapest econoboxes don't leave cables exposed like this, they could be ripped out by luggage getting thrown around in enthusiastic driving.

lol, an option?

sorry, that just sounds really funny...

fr-s owner: oh snap, you got the trunk liner option !?
brz owner: wtf... nah, this sh!t is standard, y0 !
passenger: even my grandmas echo has one...

imo, if the car manufacturers do not even list the item under "standard features," that is because it is standard on almost all car models... the fr-s is missing such a basic feature, is all i am pointing out, and thus, my worry about other possible items being omitted...

Heh, I think it's more just a general "huh, thought all cars in this price range had these common comforts"

No one's throwing a fit. Just a shame some small details pop up, which would make one wonder what other small details could have been omitted.

Wouldn't the trunk liner be one of those things you take out in order to shave off weight?

What does it weigh? About 1/2 lb? That's probably the lightest piece of the whole car. If it doesn't have a trunk liner than that really is pathetic.

I really want the Scion version of this car but I feel like I'm going to have to spend 5k and lots of time trying to make it like the mid range Toyota 86.

^^^ yea, that... and why many people wanted a toyota release here in the states, not scion... pffft~

i'm not complaining, heck, i think $25k for the fr-s is pretty reasonable considering how much the [gt]86/brz costs in other countries [including japan, and that's domestic]...

it is what it is and it certainly isn't a deal breaker since you can pop one in for less than a hundred bucks, but it sucks to see such a basic equipment missing @_@

I was curious about this when I was looking at ordering my IS250 6MT, and so I looked into it, the logic behind the brake override system is quite sophisticated. I heel/toe all the time. I've never had the override system interfere with my driving.

For example, the brake override feature does not operate if the brake pedal is depressed before the accelerator pedal. This logic allows for vehicles starting on a steep a hill to safely accelerate without rolling backwards, otherwise known as a hill start.

Toyota engineers have carefully calibrated the system control logic to prevent the system from interfering with efforts to free a vehicle by rocking it to gain traction in snow or mud. Since some drivers prefer to brake with the left foot, the system also recognizes this as an intentional action by the driver and will allow the accelerator to function normally.

The needles light up before the background but no sweep lol.

Love optitron gauges, but doesnt seem like the FRS uses it.
They added the sweep to all of the the Corolla models in 2009, XRS and LE (Canada)/XLE (USA) got Optitron (though they dropped it again for MY11). I loved my gauges in my 2009 XRS with the Optitron and sweep. My IS250 has both, which is nice .

It's somewhat disappointing a bit, but on the other hand, it seems like they've kind of gone for a no-compromises setup on the FR-S, not much in there beyond what you need. It's basically a low-spec 86 with some of the high-spec interior, essentially. If I bought an FR-S though, I would be upgrading it personally to mid-spec stuff, either with parts from Japan/Europe or Subaru BRZ. I would have the trunk liner.

On the bright side, looks like they didn't bother to fill in the holes if it is missing, should make it easy to make your own if you wanted one.

I'm thinking I could pick up three or four of those printed plastic 'signs on a stick' at some corner, that should do....
