I guess it is the style of the brake.

The big brake kit will separate just like scion tc.

Kind of bummed that the low spec has everything I want except for vented rear discs. Could also stand to lose another 50 or so pounds too. (Yes I have high standards, but if Toyota wants me to buy this instead of an Elise, they better get on the Jenny Craig diet. Not directly comparable cars I know, but I was looking at this as a lower cost alternative.)

Idk why, but I kinda doubt they would make the tuner spec.. But I think there will be the FR (with all the goodies interior wise) then a FR-S with less goodies interior wise more basic

I want to get all that stuff upfront and not do anything to the far after it. Can't wait to get down to the local Scion/Toyota dealer and sit in one. *Drool* Waiting till the 2014 model years start coming out is gonna be really hard. But I know I will be in a better position to buy.

Big props out to everyone who tracked down all this news and to the folks who translated all this stuff for us. THANK YOU!!!
Ah yeah, I'm in pretty much the same boat but I plan on pulling the trigger right when they are released in 2012. I know it's smarter to have all the money up front to just buy it out right but if Im lucky i can pay off about half of the vehicle up front.

Granted, the rear brakes do a lot less of the work (30-40%?) so it's not that much of a surprise.

I'm gravitating toward the high-end spec, though it'd probably be like $28-30k, hmm.

From the Fuel economy numbers it looks like it was tuned for a balance of power and Fuel efficiency.
Also it would be good to know how low RPMs the power starts coming in.
Besides Toyota needs a car to offset the LFA for the CAFE.

wow awesome specs i am totally impressed. that extra 100 or so lbs shaved off the curb weight does make a big difference. i bet all the car mag reviewers guessed high on the torque because this car is just so dang light! made it feel like it had more torque than it really does.

Anybody who has tried to buy a car in Japan would know this;Japan offers so much options, not to mention more freedom in option selections.

Since I would want this car in the base trim and I'm wondering the HID option will be offered as an add-on for the scion model. (For reference, the HID option usually comes as a single option regardless of the trim level for most cars in Japan.)

Looking at the Scion's current "single base trim" offering, it may be feasible. However, the US versions generally have tendency to offer the HIDs for higher package cars and do not allow a buyer to choose the option without paying the premium.

So, I'm not sure. I hope I can choose the HID option as a single exterior option.

You'll need more than just the disc to convert it to the top spec's brakes as the caliper and pads will no longer go over the rotor.

I'd assume if the rear is upgraded with ventilated discs, the fronts are likely bigger in the top spec as well.

With our luck, the US will only get the bottom spec. Fine for the tach, but I wouldn't mind some of the other top spec brakes (primarily the brakes).
