Autobahn eh? I've driven my RSX (and a few supercars) there for many laps. Nice one on turn 10 too haha.

Seriously though, if I don't get a 370z I'd get an 86 and swing over to your shop (live in Chicago and also the Western Suburbs) for some boost. My biggest concern is reliability. I don't want to have to worry about leaks, etc.

What is tuning situation like. After your tune will we be able to directly tune off the ecu like Hondata K-PRO with a laptop? I would like to be able to street tune and switch between higher and lower boost, drop it down for valets, and potential kids, etc. Also say I was running an e85 tune, but got stuck where there was only 93, could I switch over easy with a laptop/cell phone?

Someone forgot to tell you that a turbo just wont fit. Just ask all those Subaru engineers. Ha, sweet job. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure with the Ecutek tune that both flexfuel, and a valet map are all coming.

what makes a turbo in this engine bay different than a turbo in a already turboed car engine bay? nothing. it's actually getting a good cooling effect where it is sitting and it's not prone to heating anything up.

turbo blanket + wrap the dp keeps heat away.

p&l, great answer to why the turbo is clocked. digging up, it's about properly lubricating and oil drainage from the turbo.

There is a difference though. When an automotive manufacturer designs an engine bay including a turbocharger, they strategically locate the turbocharger with the incredible amount of heat it creates in mind. Most factory turbo systems locate the turbo away from volatile components like belts, pulleys, reservoirs, plastic covers, etc.. Additionally, ALL manufacturers incorporate some form of heat shield to further protect the other engine bay components.

That turbocharger is a HUGE generator of heat, and it is placed in a location where the original designers most likely weren't concerned with those types of temperatures.

Now I'm not saying that this is a poor design, or that other components will surely fail. I like the design of this kit more than the others for numerous reasons (most compact exhaust manifold design, shortest possible turbo>intercooler & intercooler>throttle body tubing, cool air intake, etc.) I'm just asking P&L's thoughts on this concern, which is a legitimate one.

Yes, a turbo/exhaust wrap will help, but I'm sure a lot of people don't want to 'ugly up' their engine compartment. One of the perks of this turbocharger location is that it looks sick.

you'll be surprised what items can hold up to the heat. as long as they are not touching it. a factory sti's turbo has buttloads of items around it. the exhaust gases are 1400 coming out of my header with my fan shroud 1cm away. it does not melt.

I do have some questions regarding the Auto trans.

What can you tell us as far as the behavior of the auto trans when shifting with the paddles in manual mode vs letting it shift by itself. Does it handle the new power ok if you leave it shifting by itself?

Also....1/4 mile run at the end...What's with the No Time posted?

Just out of curiosity, will any aftermarket header back exhaust kit mate up to this kit or do I need something else?

Really eager to see the results on a 6sp, planning on running the 93 oct low boost map on my daily driver. Oh and please dont pay much attention or waste time with those that only come to boards trash talk and raise elimentary school discussions for the sake of having something to say. As mentioned before, if you dont like the kit, there are about eight or nine other companies with different designs, if you have a question, ask politely and with modesty, but im sure if is not the angle then it's the color and if not the piping location. Some people just have to say something negative. Keep up the good work. How much would you say the stock fuel pump would hold? Thanks

Don't think so, the kit includes a downpipe to replace the stock one. Catback will be fine, but anything that replaces the downpipe will not.

From the first post:

-P&L 3" Stainless Steel Downpipe (with adapter flange for stock overpipe)

I don't know if it's being worked on or updated, but I'm like 2 weeks away from having this kit ordered and I want to make sure everything is in line before I leave my car at the shop for 2-3 weeks. I'm going to Australia for business and I want to come home to a 400rwhp E85 MONSTER!!! So please Re-Up the MSRP page or let me know what the kit turnaround is for ordering.
