When u buy a brand new brz(or any car) you lose about 5 to 10% just for driving it out of a showroom, then u add the yearly depreciation which is around 10 to 15% depending on make and demand. Then around 10 to 15% yearly. Well out here it's like that not sure over there how it works.

Yea I thought about holding off on my BRZ because I definitely believe in depreciation and buying used vehicles.

But then I realized I was following this cars concept for 2 years because nothing that actually existed fit what I wanted.

I looked at 370z, mustangs, genesis, miata, s2k

I weighed the depreciation in my decision and I guess quite literally made a "YOLO" decision. I didn't want to wait 2-3 years to get the car I wanted to save some $.

And 3 years later with the track time and mods I have, I am glad I made that decision.

OK, here's what Edmunds really says:

Average price actually paid new for 2014 Altima: $19420

http://www.edmunds.com/nissan/altima/2014/

Average dealer trade in value Dec 2015 $13191

Average retail value Dec 2015 $15733

http://www.edmunds.com/nissan/altima...sal-value/tmv/

(Assumptions: 2.5l CV, S trim, clean, 20K miles)

So the 2 year depreciation from new retail to used wholesale is $6229, or 32%

2 year depreciation from new retail to used retail is $3687, or just 19%.

Hell of a long way from "...46% per year".

Given the proper conditions all the time then yes a GTR may be more fun, but in dealing with everyday life and geographical and infrastructure limitations, the brz (especially modded) is as fun if not more fun than most cars I listed in my last post (to me at least)

It may be the price too that influences my fun factor, when I drove my buddy's R34 (it was fun)but I always kept a bit of reserve driving the car seeing as crashing it would result in a hefty build and a lot of time and money searching for parts. I jumped a curb with my brz a week ago and it's in the shop atm and although it was unpleasant, I haven't really been down about it, had the car been a GTR or a brand new cayman or vette, I would probably still be sobbing uncontrollably. so that may have something to do with enjoyment factor, the fact that a mistake/accident will not cause me to have to remortgage my house for car repairs
all this is true. everyday use and city driving I prefer the FRS. Its fun in the dry and twice as fun in the rain. Its cheap to maintain. I can drive it everywhere and not care about resale value or rock chips / getting it dirty.

Let the old dog lie down to sleep!!

On a related note, depreciation doesn't affect an owner if they never plan on selling it
