Working in the social media industry in the moderation department, I tend to have a good handle on communities, and this is definitely one of the better ones out there. Part of it is that communities based around a single thing, like a specific car or game tend to be better than less-well-defined communities like 4chan or Reddit, but for some reason ft86 is even better than that more specific average.

The worst part is the Si's steering is far too squirrelly on the highway - I find it to be dangerous to change a radio station even.
It's not the destination, but the journey that matters most

Glad you are back. Enjoy! Have you picked up the new ride yet and I am curious how you did with your trade-in.

Not yet as I'm still preparing. I've returned all warranty extras on my current loan and I'm waiting for that to adjust this month. I've been doing about 30 hours a week overtime - time and a half plus an extra $150 a day bonus for overtime days. I'd wager 6-8 more weeks should do it. I may order in a BRZ now, or wait to hear news on the 2014 BRZ or a 2014 BRZ STI.

The good thing is that I didn't lose much on the first trade in, but I'll see just how much Subaru offers for the Si. I have an idea as Ford offered me 19K-ish for it a month ago as I was looking at a Focus ST at the time. The ST is not on the table anymore of course, I'm gunning straight for a WRBP BRZ Limited with the trunk tray, chrome side accents, chrome gas cap, and the auto dimming mirror.

My Birthday is Aug 25th. I plan on having my present by then or at least all ordered up. I don't think the 2014 BRZ will be all that different as to affect my plans, just as long as I get one of those new chirp free editions coming off the assembly line now. Plus the BRZ STi is most likely too expensive for me anyhow, or at least longer to afford than I'd like to wait. I figure I can do the STi like upgrades myself.

As long as you don't drive the FRS hard and blow up the engine you should be fine.

While I was really not liking several things about the BRZ, I realized that its particular set of issues is the most acceptable for the money and performance involved. And I miss it. The Si had issues worse than the BRZ. So I decided to stop chasing perfection and go back to the BRZ. I won't get more into it than that, and I'd appreciate if you guys didn't give me a hard time, its just a journey I had to go on, but I'll be back in the club soon. Not very long at all. It's amazing what massive amounts of overtime can accomplish while your single with no kids.
Ouch, I think it is your bank account that will be eating the crow. I admire your admission. There are many people that would just simply drop off the forum radar. Congrats for coming back.

Not chirp free. I got mine 2 weeks ago and it's a chirper.

What is the build date? It's on a placard inside the driver's door. Mine was built 3/13, and no chirping so far.

I will have to check the build date of mine but it is not a chirper so far either and I have been listening for it

Hey, I like my nickname!!! It is what it is, a few grand lost, life moves on. At least this time I can get a (hopefully) chirp free edition fresh of the line (4 month wait) and the Limited trim (my last one was a Premium).

hmm I drove a 2011 Si 1200 miles in 1 day, I'd say the seats are as comfortable or more comfortable than the 86. Never drove my BRZ that long straight though so can't say definitively.

It's the lumbar, it pushes in my mid back and the bolster amount is too weak to really bolster me much in the turns. That's the 2013 9th gen seats.

It should be noted that the 2011 is the 8th gen, which I have also owned. Far superior seats. Far superior everything really except for interior material quality and stock torque. Both shifters are excellent however.

I guess I got lucky with mine, as soon as I switched to non-ethanol gas, my chirping (I called them crickets) went away. Some have retained their crickets regardless of gas used, but, it worked for me.

With all this SI talk, I thought I'd start seeing folks owning the late 80's and early 90's SI. Come to find out ya'll are talking about the newer ones. I'd love to get my 92 Milano Red SI again if I can find one in stock form.
