BTW, while we do have our BOV on our car, the vent to atmosphere plate has been left on for full recirculation, which is why there is no angry psssshhpssshhhh between shifts.

Ok thanks for the help. Was going by the Perrin exhaust where on one website (which I was referencing) they refer to the front pipe as a downpipe. So if I went with the AVO turbo and exhaust I would still have the stock downpipe/frontpipe?

And Paul, do you know the weight of the AVO exhaust and overpipe?

Downpipes were always front pipes, but at some time in the past, people started calling them "down" pipes, I think because of the location of Subaru turbos and that the front pipe went down from it. Well, a lot of other turbo models as well, but I've a feeling it mainly started with them.

Correct on those stock pieces, though we'll be making replacements for those as well.

I have to go find my notes, I wrote it down somewhere. I do remember that our muffler section was about 5lbs lighter, and the mid-pipe was about that much (or more) lighter than stock.

I currently have a turn down pipe right after the header and two exhaust tips sticking out the back with nothing in between lol

ETA on the frontpipe? Just if I am going to change it over I want to do it all at the same time and waiting until my first full service before throwing your turbo kit on to make sure any factory 'kinks' are not there

Sorry guys but this is still not clear for me. Take a look at the pictures below...

Ho and by the way Paul, please remove the plate on your BOV for the recirculation and make a video so we could hear how Avo's BOV sound like.

In your first 2 pictures what you are circling is where the original header would have finished up to connect to the overpipe. You are correct in the third picture. The frontpipe/downpipe comes AFTER the overpipe.

See I'm learning

When I bought my HKS downpipe for my 94 RX-7 it was the first section of the exhaust system that connect to the turbos. The turbos push the air directly into the downpipe usually....

Also it was onto that HKS downpipe right after the turbos that the O2 sensor was mounted.
If you look at the first picture it look like there is also a place to mount an O2 sensor like a bung....

I dont see why the downpipe on our car would be after the cross over pipe. It is way too far from the turbo to call that a downpipe...

I'm so over this mixed up name calling for the exhaust system!
It's just as Sportsguy83 posted with the original breakdown.
Header
Over pipe
Front pipe
Mid pipe
Muffler[axle back]

The AVO turbo fits into their new header which then bolts up to the stock over pipe.

For me the confusion came because on some supplier web pages they have the frontpipe labelled as a downpipe but I get their meaning now
