Actually you are good example of a large part of the "more power crowd" (Not a slam against you as you seem rational) that have only had brief drives or none at all. Far too many like to read all the reviews and take them all as 100% accurate. The torque dip is one of those things people like to focus on and by reading about it they make it sound like the car just lugs down and practically stop the second you hit 4K rpms. Ya, there is a very brief dip but once you spend some time in the seat you will know what to do and won't even know it is there about 95% of the time.
You have to actually drive these cars not just mash and point and when you do it right the car will reward you with things that the paper specs would say are not possible.

Well if 86 came with 50 more horse power it would de crowned the s2k right off the bat and beat the crap out of all domestic muscle with v6s......sure sounds like dreamland to me. Not gonna happen for how much the car is worth.

No, cause no vtec lol. People who love the s2k are not going to simply say more power kills it. There are characteristics that make it revered, not numbers.

And the twins are not competing with v6 american muscle, so why would anyone car? This car is designed to be fun to drive, not a numbers machine. If you want v6 "power" then get a v6 or upgrade a twin yourself. Pretty sure we are not that far of from the v6 mustang power to weight ratio.

I just want a fun car at a somewhat affordable price. I don't want/need more power that would undoubtedly get me into some trouble :P I just can't wait to get behind the wheel of a RWD sports car again and ENJOY! That's just what the spirit of this car is. This is Tada's vision and I think he did a very fine job.

Somehow, the whiners miss the "work it" part, which is where ALL the fun is. They suck at driving.

I suspect "style Cb" is a marketing and customer satisfaction test before they go formally into the 2nd generation. I suspect 2nd generation (if it'll exist) will resemble somehow this special edition. Don't expect too many changes or a major redesign of the platform. They'll just try to go into a broader market by converting the car to a bit more "premium" image.
