Meh. In Louisiana we have an Annual Back-to-School Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday. I bought my first gun during the back-to-school sales tax holiday and plan to pick up a shotgun this year.

Texans just like to shoot at cans and pretend to be militia or cowboys. In Louisiana we kill delicious animals and eat them.

On the other hand, in Louisiana we also have drive thru daiquiri bars. People outside the state often think that's a myth, but they really are all over the place here:

And yes, when you go through the drive-thru, you really do get a very strong alcoholic daiquiri in a styrofoam cup with a regular lid and a straw.

This is one reason why Louisiana consistently ranks among the most expensive insurance states in the country.

Not once they get accustomed to them. Mythbusters tested roundabouts vs. 4-way stops with American drivers and found that the roundabout worked better once the drivers figured them out. Not sure if they would work here, because everybody's fucking drunk on drive-thru daiquiris, but in a more sober place they work just fine.

I have family in Louisiana and I do really enjoy that state... especially Lafayette.

However, we have all of the same luxuries you just mentioned in Texas. Next time you're here, look up Eskimo Joe's. It's blowklahoma that are sticks in the mud.

I have noticed that most Louisianans consider themselves the supreme outdoorsmen and think those traits stop at the border, but that couldn't be more false. We hunt and fish with the best of em. AND, shooting at cans is soooo 20th century. We prefer tannerite in these parts

So im driving to work today, not in the 86 since I don't drive it during winter but in my Rogue doing 90 km/h (speed limit over the bridge) and some lady nut in a Toyota Yaris pulls up along side me, speeds up just enough so she can cut me off without signalling and I tell you it must have been mere inches from by front bumper. Lots of horn honking and curse words today, and its like she didn't even notice I was there thank goodness I had my Tim's coffee already. I didn't even know the Yaris was capable of maintaining that speed lol. Anyways I sped up changed lanes and cut her off...before the exit

Canadian reality is that the bitch was unarmed.

Around here, there's a 40% probability s/he is and that alone makes me think twice before even honking a horn. Instead, I turn on the high beams and tailgate.

According to Obama, Christians are responsible for shitty driving. Burning a mofo alive in a cage is just to be expected for not using a signal.

But where do I shoot my AR? And how much jail time am I looking at when I get caught with a .45 on my hip?

Those are two questions that most Texans would want to know the answer to before heading west young man.

Venture into Central Texas and I bet most people would be happy to make the move, especially with the low cost of living comparison.

Texas isn't perfect, but by God, we let you do you! (I'm thinking that should be our new state motto haha) Luckily, Texas is massive so if it gets too crazy, there are plenty of awesome places to retreat to

LOL on the mag/clip comparison. I always get a good chuckle when people use them interchangeably... mainly because I used to do it, as well
All this about Austin is so true. When i moved to the Lake Travis area from NJ in 2012 i called it the Beverly Hills of Texas, and i see California plates everyday when I'm home. Now as for Texas drivers, they love that left lane! I cant tell you how many times I've seen people turn right out of intersections and go straight to it. Most of them hate signals too, I've made a couple people miss their turns after they tried to get in front of me without it

That's the truth! And it's especially bad in Austin. All too often it's a hippie in a Prius doing 55 in the fast lane too! haha (no offense to hippies or Prius lovers).

So Texas isn't much different than NJ then.

well the left lane thing is actually a HUGE difference to me and people are more prone to stay close to the speed limit on highways here. People going 80mph on 80 seemed normal to me but down here people will barely touch 75mph in 70mph zones yet there are less cops on the highways
