Police encounters

I'm glad I live on the westside of LA because even with side skirts, a lip, no front plate, a loud exhaust, and a freaking windshield banner I am always not the most conspicuous car even when going 30 over on the freeway. All I can say is Maserati and my neighborhood and the surrounding area must have both had good years because I see upwards of 10 with the dealer plates blasting around during my morning commute.

Always got pulled over doing the limit in my old Camry, no attention now. Go figure!

The plates not being in the normal database probably helps me out a bit but cops in LA are too busy to set up elaborate traps. You always see them coming. But, because it's LA and they get shot at and yelled at they usually aren't in sporting moods once they get you. Never seen anyone get a warning here lol.

Damn what mods do you have on your car? Planning on going the OFT+OFH route in a few months, but scare I'm going to get my ass harassed by LA and SGV cops...

I'm also already loud with my TRD exhausts that came with the car lol

I carry the dealer option pamphlet with the TRD exhaust in it just in case I ever get hassled for it. Can at least attempt too argue it is a "stock" system.

My visible mods are the lip, side skirts, diffuser, and then I have a nameless single exit track pipe that's pretty loud when I'm above 3-4k. I also have a windshield banner (two actually, a small side one vertical on the passenger side too from a car club).

Definitely not subtle. I'm way louder than TRD. When I see cops I upshift as much as I can though and lay off the throttle a bit. Otherwise I'm loud enough to pick out down a city block.

I jinxed my luck. Got pulled over for doing 10 over on a 65 while cruising around over the weekend. There are other 3-5 cars with me going at same speed but he picked me, well duh. After checking my records and run me with the typical questions he let me off with a written warning .

Before letting me go he noticed my unusual plate and asked me what it meant. Told him that's what the car is called in Japan. He said it's a cool plate name and that's one of the reason he let me slide. Very cool trooper and if I have to rate this guy it's 10/10!

Well, I finally got a speeding ticket. Went over to my dads to helps get a transmission back in my sisters car and on the way home (about 1am) was cruising at 85/90. Pretty much no cars on the road, not checking my six and then I notice headlights right behind me. I'm thinking "who the hell is this asshole tailgating me at 90mph?" So I punch it and then pretty colorful lights appear. 125 in a 65 and since the cop was just a little pissed he also got me for no front plate. It wasn't too bad though only cost me about $420 and I went ahead and put my front plate on finally.

Ive been pulled over quite a few times. One for rolling through a stop sign, one for "no taillights" ( She just wanted to see who was driving, I guess she didn't like my black winjet tail lights. Another time for having a cover over my license plate.. but each time the officers was nice and no tickets were issued

I got my first ticket a few months back. One of those freakin' red light cameras. We only have 5 around town and I just so happened to be in the right place at the right time. $500 later. Gah, that sucked. Technically it wasn't a police encounter but eh, still a ticket.

hmmm... first ticket was tints in my neighborhood... guy was a prick but whatever dealt with ticket... second one I got popped going about 85 in a 55... officer comes up says why u going so fast, I was like uhm.... he goes back to car gives me delaying traffic ticket and leaves saying, "I didn't think that car could go 85"... ouch.... Third time was 10 over... got the ticket and the points... decided to plea out and ended up paying 550 bills.... ouch... most of time cops just follow me around... probably because of the noise factor, (no cats, straight piped)....
