I much rather get an NA car and add a supercharger at some point in the future.

There's some great windy roads here (a couple hours drive to the Dragon), but honestly I'm just as excited to drive the interstate to work in a go kart with leather seats and XM radio.

If they want turbos on their cars, or more power then they can put a turbo on themselves, buy a WRX, Mustang or other infinite cars with more power. 200hp will be enough in this car. Sure I would like a bit more but no more than 230-240. And definitely not turbo. N/A only. The only reason I would want more power is for bragging rights and to compete with other cars like the 350z or whoever. And really, I'm not 18 anymore, I don't race; I just want an engaging drive a good seating position, good shifter and decent power. If my wife's Prius has enough passing power, then the BRZ/FRS will be just fine. |

These cars are quite easy to mod, so I would bet a majority of issues were from people that didn't know what they were doing or bought modified cars in not so great shape. |

![]() Clearly, you've never driven in the Texas Hill Country. (which Austin is near) Not saying that the culture isn't more supportive of drag and muscle cars, but there are enough farm roads in most of Texas to have fun on. |

Personally, I would love to see the extra power just so they can re-gear the car with a taller 5th and 6th gear to lower the revs during highway cruising. Any type of engine tune from the factory that is going to increase power by 50-70 hp is going to be crazy expensive. I can't see Subaru doing that when they have a perfectly good turbo version of the same engine that makes that amount of power. |

I suggested that I don't need the power that a turbo would provide because things like bragging rights and comparisons to other cars like the Z aren't what I'm into anymore. I'd like only more N/A power because of the characteristics of the engine; the sound and the power delivery. And hopefully through mods I can get at least 20hp more. I get what you're saying though. I often think that this car is barely faster than a Integra Type R, but I'm sure if I drove one of those today, it'd put a smile on my face. Also a BRZ that could keep up with a 350z would be similarly priced. I think I said it here before but my dream car was never really built. I don't want to get hyperbolic, but I think the FRS/BRZ is closest to it. I've always wanted an S2000 coupe and that's what I've imagined the FRS/BRZ to be. |

I don't doubt this, but I was more pointing to the straightline culture of Texas. Apparently the "where's the turbo" whiners haven't heard of Hill Country, lol

A 270hp BRZ priced a tad under 35k would be my ideal car. It would be the perfect balance of a sports car with good power and exceptional handling as opposed to the more one sided car it is right now. If it doesn't come before 2015 then I guess I'll be getting a regular BRZ as it is since it is the closest thing to what I want. |

No. I am looking forward to leaving the engine stock for a long while. I love the relative simplicity of NA power and I have seen the addiction that is boost destroy too many wallets and engines in the past to want to go that route.
I prefer stupid amounts of grip rather than stupid amounts of power. Hence my 94 R Package Miata with 225 star specs at all four corners.

I'm waiting to see how a TRD/aftermarket supercharger shapes up power- and price-wise. Then I'll probably buy an N/A BRZ used and slap the SC on.
I love the rush of acceleration, and even in the highly-urbanized areas of Okinawa my crankwalking Evo IV still delivers daily driven stoplight-to-stoplight. It's only about 200lbs heavier than the BRZ but theoretically packs ~30% more power (even more once I drop this new engine in with Evo VI turbo). I'm not in a position to buy a brand new BRZ solely for enjoying the twisties (which this island has plenty of) without selling my stateside Evo X MR, and right now @ 200hp and 6.4sec 0-60 for the BRZ that would be a huge downgrade, not an upgrade. |
