Well I've been stranded twice now because of EcuTek. This license thing is beyond ridiculous.

Ecutek works on windows 8... or are you saying you tried to swap laptops and it didnt work?

Partial flash, EcuTek is suppose to be engaged on it. I guess my case is rare but still very frustrating. You pay an inflated price for a product you hope it works. I've used two laptops now and now they both won't work with the ECU.

We see this problem when there isn't a consistent internet connection and the tune fails to apply. What's going on is EcuTek's software requires validating the license with their servers during every flash. We realize how inconvenient that can be when you're on the road without reception or internet and we've been working with them on a solution. It really is a pretty isolated incident though.

CORRECTION: when the flashing process fails, you lose the license which then has to be re-issued. That's the part that requires the internet connection. You can flash without active internet connection. I apologize for the error. ProECU update tomorrow should be rectifying this issue.

Wait... Internet connectivity is required to flash? I thought the license was validated via the dongle.

So if someone runs out of gas on a long road trip and can't find an E85 station...if there's no internet connection, even if they have a laptop, they won't be able to flash back to a pumpgas map? Apologies if I'm misconstruing something here.

Tangent: Is map-switching going to come back down the road? So in the above situation we could switch from E85 to 93 via the cruise control stalk?

Yeah pretty certain the gas station doesn't have wifi here. Rich did state it was isolated, I just wasn't aware it needed anything beyond the dongle to validate.

There is no way that this is accurate. I've flashed from a laptop at a gas station where I was nowhere near an internet connection and wifi was disabled.

This is also true. I have flashed 14 times now and none had internet.

I agree as well. The laptop I use to flash has broken WiFi. The only way it can connect to the internet is if I physically plug in a LAN cable. So mine is never connected to the internet while I am flashing in my car. The only time I connect the cable to get on the internet is to update the ECUTek software "before" I head outside to flash my car. NEVER during.

I'm going to try laptop #3 tomorrow, might get a different cable, hopefully they can get to the bottom of it. Just sucks being stuck in your driveway with no other car.

Condolences man. Hope they get to the bottom of it shortly! When did you first report the problem? I'm just curious on response timeframes to a critical issue.
