Bigger respect for Toyota? What does that even mean?

I prefer the brand of Toyota over Subaru

although in this case, it's the same fucking car!

But really though, i just took offense to you generalizing a "scion" cutomer as opposed to a "subaru" customer, as if they the people are somehow different.

they are not!

When did I generalize the "Scion" customer?

I know that. lol Toyota is the company who has been making boring cars the past 10-15 years. At least Subaru has the WRX and STI.

In the last 10 years, Toyota had the mr2, supra, and Celica.

Those are boring?

Yes the last 10 years Toyota has had boring cars. W20 was the last good MR2 which ended in 1999. The Supra was great but ended in 2002. The last good Celica was the GT-Four which we didn't get and ended in 1999. So yeah the last 10 years have been boring for Toyota. Pardon the 15 yrs.

yeah but when you say boring it sounds like you mean fast. i still find the wrx to be boring. the mr2 spyder is more fun than an sw20. the bottom line is that toyota has more experience racing and making fun or fast cars than subaru does

The Spyder (MR-S) is much more fun than the SW20 (mk2). Slower stock, sure, but the go-kart feel is there. Power is easier to fix than, balance and feel. I put a 2GRFE 3.5L v6 in my 2001 Spyder, and it puts down 271 rwhp (~310 at the crank) with a table top torque curve. The car is nuts and still handles excellent.

Sorry I was talking about stock. Your car does sound like fun. Wanna let me drive it? But I still hold that the SW20 was the last fun MR2 from the factory.

I did not know where else to post it but, whats with all the bickering back and forth between Scion and Subaru enthusiasts??? Its like the Honda vs VW people with the exception of you all (hopefully myself included) will be driving the same car... sure little cosmetic things are different blah blah blah but the guts and everything that counts are THE SAME.

What is the average age of someone on this site? Late teens early twenties?

Personaly I thought I was for sure without question buying the FRS than when pricing was released it put me on the fence... I grew up building and racing and driving Hondas, Ive owned a few other makes including a toyota and I wave worked on many makes and models so out of the two there is ZERO brand loyalty... I wanted the lightest version so the Scion was the one I was going with, now Im thinking get the added features on the subura and take away a few things I dont need to even out the weight advantage... If someone like the bumpers, headlights, interior, etc on one or the other great! Lots of people will probably be customizing their car in many different ways anyway so a lot of both makes will look vastly different than the OE versions. Buy the version you want and be happy with it... why talk ish on the next guy with the same car but a different badge... LOL it makes no sense.

I was looking forward to getting back into a car that had a good following, but after reading so many posts on this and other FRS/BRZ sites looks like some of the Subaru people will be looking down on the FRS owners and FRS owners will be saying the BRZ owners got a watered down version of the car.... So STUPID...

Sorry for the rant but I felt the need to vent my frustrations... Im done now...

The FR-S makes me very happy because I grew up loving Toyotas. It just so happens that Toyota releases a car I've always been looking for; cheap, simple, not a lot of the new technology, plain, not too fast, small, etc. It's just a giant coincidence Toyota/Subaru releases such a car the time in the market for a new car.

My dad has been an employee for 17 years so there's no questioning brand loyalty.

But I know there will be people who are happy with the BRZ, but just because I'm a Toyota fanboy doesn't give me a right to bash on them.

What makes me happy is hearing or seeing someone else who is happy and as excited for owning either of the cars.

Well, its not only on this forum. This happens in every car forum where people act like they are the one that designed and build the car that they own. The car they have is far superior than any other car and nobody can say anything bad about it since that would mean a personal attack.
