They don't need (and in some cases aren't allowed) full interiors in order to get engine/transmission/drivetrain durability test data. For all we know the motor in the FT86 race car is bone stock while you can be sure that the other cars in this race are built to the fullest extent of the rule book (boring engines out to the thousanth of an inch allowed). Also the slicks they were running (they did not race on the RE11 like someone posted [might have been in one of the other threads]) are super sticky and will induce a great deal of extra stress on axles, diff, gears, clutch, suspension, etc.

Jesus, what is in that top CTR??? (Come to think of it which year CTR?)

I'm now a bit confused. I'm going to make an assumption that qualifying is a mess of traffic as well given the differences (and the different differences)?

15 second off an (probably well-developed) S2k over 10 and a bit minutes is pretty good. But a minute behind the best CTR is not...

They used the slower CTR too.

Some info on the fast Civic:
http://mugeneuro.com/index.php?mact=...t01returnid=60
http://www.jasmotorsport.com/en/RaceA.aspx?Id=85&Aut=90
But HP should be close to 300 and the drivers are quite good as well.

How did this manage to get in the same class?

Mugen engine making 265 hp @ 8300 rpm
6-speed sequential transmission
3-way adjustable dampers
Brakes are almost 13" dia

No longer concerned about CTR disparity...

Nearly stock FT86 stacks up well against an S2k.

Happy.

I'll quote myself in reply to the above posts:

SP class is open class, so ANY 2L NA car will be SP3, regardless of weight, hp, etc. V3 class limits hp and weight to around the stock levels, but wheels, tires, suspension, are free. That's why I included the V3 CTRs for comparison, they are limited to near stock hp and weight.

I think that the results are amazing for a first run. Both the CTR and S2000 are putting out 240 or more hp, and are about the same size as the ft-86 which is putting out ~200.

I cant prove it, but I think that the FT-86 will not only kill the other two in terms of pricing, but epa mileage as well. Imagine what the car would be capable of after they finish tweaking it.

I said for the production car, not race car.

My guess was guess is loosely based on what my tC weighed from the factory (2900lbs) and what it weighs after I gutted it (2550lbs). Seeing as how the cage adds back in weight to the car, I estimated around 2800lbs for the car entirely.
