Can anyone confirm part numbers for the TRD buttons?

Everything I can find says MS422-00003 is the 86 one but to get the led you need MS422-00001 or MS422-00002 are they also compatible?

One thing I found out about the swap from the Advanced keys system. The newer Toyota's use a different switch type. When I ordered the switch from Japanparts I thought it would be safe to order the one for the GT86. Heads up the GT86 one does not have the status LED on it. The GT86 and BRZ limited use an LED icon in the cluster..... Damn should have bought the TRD switch with the LED indicator. If I did it would have been a direct swap.

Moral of the story if you want this switch order the one with the LED indicator......

After taking a quick look at the wiring diagram it is not that simple, because it has data sent to the cluster IC and not a simple signal wire. I haven't given up yet.... stay tuned.

Here is a pic of the FR-S icon which we have......

Here is a 2013 Rav4 for reference

Mr 086A -- could you please post a picture of the completed center console/pocket/push button area with the usb/aux jack showing?

ALSO -- did you find a way around the 2-second push-to-shut down?

Thanks in advance!

Here is my post from before I installed the TRD switch.

As for the 2sec shutdown, I called Advanced keys and was told that the 2 sec was a needed safety requirement on their end. Sorry so no new news there. It would be sweet if someone could figure out a hack for it.....

Oh yeah, thanks! I completely missed the (mostly) finished look because I was kinda confused by the first pic because the original pocket insert looked like a pic all on its own - turns out it was just really level and centered removed pocket insert in the photo of the new one with the start button...

I suppose a 2-sec to shutdown is a small price to pay for such a badass mod.

One last question, about the Advanced Keys system again -- what happens if the driver/keyholder leaves the car running while a passenger hangs out in the car? For example, what if I ran into a convenience store while my girlfriend waits in the car for me? Will the car shut down/doors lock/alarm activate?

I appreciate you sharing your experience -- I notice you're in Hawaii, I live in the cold eastern part of Canada and I'm going to realize a long standing dream of vacationing in Hawaii this May! Can't wait!!
I might PM you to get some insider info on what to see while visiting, from one FR-S owner to another...

guys i installed mine as well thanks to help from 086A! thanks again for your input, and also i bought the TRD LED one and works great!

I will post pics of mine when i have sometime.

I did want to mention to everyone, that if you are intrested in advance key build, they said they will eventually stop using toyota\lexus buttons... so just wanted to throw that out there.

thanks,
Paul

the only thing stopping me from doing this is the random occasions where the car just won't start the first try. I'm hoping for a solid response/fix from scion before i do this so they can't blame the modification. advancedkeys sure looks legit with all the addons they have and it's not terribly expensive

How much did you pay for the LED TRD button? Where'd you get it from?

yea every so often it just cranks forever on the first try. I called the Scion corporate number to see if there was any actual known fix and they were like "ummmm is it cold outside when this happens?" and when i told them it was 55 degrees the guy basically said there's no fix yet. They're hoping to blame it on the weather but that's just not the case. I know if i ask the dealer to check it out though it won't happen for them and they'll just say o well.

I'm assuming you probably have to go through some extra steps in order for it to work with an A/T FR-S?

Yeah that sucks, i mean if its new and it does this at 55 degrees that is an issue possibly a starter issue...

What you could do is tow the car to them and have them try to start it.
A friend of mine did that with one of his cars having the same issue and they ended up having to fix the issue for him.
