We have to remember that the motor's being designed for this car specifically, and if toyota and all of them are telling the truth, it is NOT an ej20. Hopefully even better...

I think the actual engine will be the least of problems for people who want to make more power.

Cheap on the engine, all the money is in tires, pads, suspension, rims if stock ones are too heavy. Now a great engine to swap if the weight wasn't too bad would be a H-6...can't do a prosche engine, but a subaru flat-6...E33? something like that. I think stock will be the best though honestly. They have the low CG down. Direct injection (torque!). Light weight front end. High revving, hopefully more guts than a s2k..no offense... Who wants the engine swap headache now anyways? Wait till your 7 year warranty is out.. Unless you are a racing/drifting team a bigger engine will most likely be impractical in terms of money and benefit. Just my .02 cents |

OBVIOUSLY im not mechanically minded and know that a porsche engine will be hard to engine swap, but is it really unable to be done? what would you have to do to be able to put a porsche engine in the FT?? |

![]() I think you are completely off base with your analogy. If the porche engine can mount up with the FT's tranny, then it's cake. Porsche engines are longitudinally mounted as well, just in the rear instead of the front. |

Ever see a 2jz 1977 Celica Yes I know that Porsche engines are mounted longitudinally. I have help work on Carrera 4s before, so I know somewhat knowledge bout it. I just made that statement cuz I thought it was easiest way to explain it. As for the engine mounting up with the FT86c's tranny, I'll bet you it won't. If it was that easy to mount a porsche H6 engine in then all the Subie morons (me included) would of swap it into their car instead of SVX, Legacy and all other H6 engines. Like you said, engine is mounted in the rear and result is crank rotation is different, so you gotta have special tranny (or crank) to make it work. Of course all these are just my analogy.
