If its badged a scion its a deal killer for me! I think of scion as a teenagers car no offense to any owners here. I own a 2000 six speed celica GTS the last sporty car toyota sold in the us so it they call it a celica Im all in! I have read that the new ceo of toyota is trying to return to their sporty roots and the celica has a 35 year tradition so seems like the way to go.

If a simple badge is a deal-breaker on the first true compact, light-weight, RWD sports car to come out sinnnceee....~1994 (I'll give the S13 credit, though its not really compact) then, uh, why even care if the car comes out in the first place?

The two parts I bolded make me laugh, because, well, no offense, but the last gen Celica's remind me of teenage blondies cars as well bud.

Edit: Not even gonna start on the naming it a Celica thing. We've murdered that discussion in another thread. Think I won actually.

Really? Read a review 180 horses 8350 rpm redline 6 speed manual Celica GTS especially the 2000 model year before toyota turned back the fuel cut off was a great sport compact. The magazines tested it against the integra GSR and it beat it in every category and put up numbers equal to or better than the type R integra.

The the gt with the 1zz 140 horse engine is a girls car but the GTS was the real deal. The yamaha developed 2zz gts engine is still in use today in the elise and exige so check your facts.

FWD, made little impact on the racing segment, and it died without a wimper. Just because it had a good engine doesn't really mean squat if the car didn't do anything in the racing segment. To me, the MR-S with the 1ZZ was more of a sports car than the 2000-2005 Celica GT-S.

on yeah, FWD.

/yawn, it was a girls car.

Last REAL celica was the Alltrac.

What facts are there to check anyways? It was an opinonated response to an opinonated post (yours). Though I still stand by the fact that if a simple badge is a deal breaker on a car like this, then one has to wonder why you're looking to buy the car anyways.

Re badging is ok as long as its same manufacturer like lexus to toyota or infinity to nissan, but if you do it like this guy thats burned rice.

Yii dawg, kint wate ta smoke da bishes in da strate, yo.

Actually documented 1/4 miles are pretty much the same, in stock form. (vs. the ST185)

Too bad the 3S-GTE has twice the tuning market behind it that the 2ZZ does. Not to mention a real-mans drivetrain in AWD. Making the Alltrac, for comparitively much less money, a much better choice in tuning. But stats are all that matter, amirite? Nothing to do with how the car feels just driving it spiritedly. In this case the GT-S has sooooo much more sport personality.

Oh, and I say its a girls car because you mostly see girls driving them. GT-S, GT, doesn't matter, susy blondey is still doin' her make up in her cute Celica.

But I'd expect nothing less from someone who would dump a RWD car in the IS300, instead of the Celica GT-S. And then argue back against the Alltrac because of a drag time. (with a 0.1 second difference none the less...thats not quuiiiittteee 'smoking' the Alltrac)

And again, if you're deterred from buying this car because of a badge difference within the same parent company, one has to wonder exactly what makes you want this car. Because you aren't going to find a compact, light-weight, RWD, all-balanced sports car in the same price range from anyone else cept miata.

Hahahaha, I think we came to a conclusion of "agree to disagree."

But I'm still waiting on someone to post points as to why this car shouldn't be named in homage to the AE86.

They're gonna have to a rough ride on that one I think, especially since the concept carries the freekin' numbers 8 and 6.

Again for the cheap seats six speed stick not too many girls bangin gears in the Gts. I maybe the auto with paddle shifters but not stick. Now after market well lotus seems to tune these engines fine with boost to 260 horse.

The all trac was a very limited production in us so not too many running around today.

If you look at the Toyota brand as a whole my point is Lexus is top tier Toyota middle and scion the entry level name plate. I don't want to step down to lowest level personally. I guess since I ve already moved up to my IS stick. Why step down? It's like going from macys to walmart. It's not just the car but resale value parts service etc etc.

If brand name matter that much then don't buy. Buy ISF, GS, or LFA. Lexus, Toyota, & Scion, they're same thing. One name sound better then other, but it's the same.
