Well, down here in the durrty south, most G.M. die-hard fans run around in mullets.
Pretty sure the Toyota fanbase isn't quite as....uh....mullety. Ie: Its not the same thing. My statement still stands. Anyone who's mad that the car is going to branded a Scion is only doing it because of the stereotype behind Scion owners. In the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter. A Scion IS a Toyota. Just buy the car and rock it out the proper way. |

I really hope its released as a Toyota. I don't know why I dislike the name Scion.

Removing the badge for anything other than a show car (not my cup of tea) is a little to ricey for me, and it's seldomly done right. Don't be ashamed of what you drive, its not a reflection of who you are in any way. |

Its not ricey in the least, its just showing what the car really is.
Imagine as a Corvette fan that Chevrolet, for some reason, badged the Corvette in say...Ethiopia as the Cervorte. To us its "nah, its a Corvette!" because its an american car being sold in a foreign market. So you, being a vette fan and buying one while working in ethiopia (bear with me here) decide to rebadge it to its proper name. Is that wrong? Same thing here...Japanese car (I can't speak for other car makers except Nissan and Toyota, who's sports cars are all shipped from japan, not built state-side) is sold in america with a different name. Nothing wrong with changing it to its true home identity imo. If I had money (I say taht a lot, I know) and could afford the zenki Sprinter Trueno front bumper/rear bumper combo, I'd have a Trueno badge on the front, GT-V door stickers, and GT-V/Sprinter Trueno stickers on the hatch. just laugh at anyone who would call that "ricey". |

Sorry guys, When i say ricey, I mean it in a way in which work (such debadging or shaving door handles) is done in a haphazard way as to leave bolt holes or holes in general and then to pain over it with primer or a slightly off color. I didn't mean to say that debadging is ricey, just bad debadging is ricey. Maybe ricey isn't the word.
Either way, I think getting all upset about Scion badging is a little juvenile. If you want a big name badge, go get a big name car like Porsche or Lexus. I thought only superficial people were worried about a social status symbol of a big named car, and I thought this was devinately not the kinda place for those type of people. Its an act of insecurity in my opinion. Be proud of what you drive, you bought it..... I understand the concept of debadging or stated above "rebadging", but for me its just a name, everybody that cares about import cars knows that a 240sx is the same chasis as the Japaneese Silvia or 180SX, just the engine is different, and if you do the swap to an SR20 and you feel proud of your self about it then by all means put the Silvia badges on it. Just don't badge it an Infinity, because you don't want people to think of your car as just a Nissan, thats how i feel about the Scion/Toyota badging, i know tha great toyota parts and workmanship goes into each car. Why worry about the fucking badge? Last edited by cornfed; 11-30-2009 at 12:58 AM. |

How many performance built Scion's really exist? Sure the tC has some decent aftermarket but it's still a FWD coupe with 160HP in stock form.. the xB & xA? Those are odd looking cars that are marketed to teenagers... I guess the point is that the FT-86 is supposed to be Toyota's return of a true sports car, and Scion doesn't make anything in the realm of true sports cars, and it also was created to make cheap cars that appeal to teenagers.. |
