A45 AMG

My dad says he might sell his Audi S3 to buy a A45 AMG. I said "up to you dad, if you want it, buy it"

I searched up A45 AMG and it has 265kw (355hp) from a twin turbo 2L engine, AWD, weighs the same as STI, and can do a 4.4 secs 0 - 100kmh. And it is only slightly more expensive than a brand new STI.

I just texted my dad "Hi dad, i reckon you should buy the A45, it suits you and i know you want it!"

What do everyone else think of the A45 AMG?

It's a Mercedes, so I'd be wary of the reliability.

Also, the new A-series is not as pretty as the S3, personally, but it is much better than the CLA-series we get.

Interesting point of the price compared to a STI. I couldnt imagine many people cross-shopping these vehicles (despite the specs) as a good percentage of merc/audi buyers are simply buying approval from their snobby neighbour.

As for A45 vs S3... for me, the A45 appeals to a slightly younger demographic than the S3. It is a great looking vehicle and apparently there are already long (not 86 long) waiting lists for the cheaper models so its proving very popular. The A45 is more likely (thanks to the styling and pointy star badge) to get attention from your friends whereas the S3 oozes modesty and class.

So perhaps it comes down to whether your dad having a midlife crisis or not?

Either way, he should buy an 86.

Mercedes is a car you only buy once, and then never buy again.

From a numbers perspective, the A45 AMG is a bargain IMO. Too bad the US won't get them. It's too small for an American.

Actually we're getting the CLA45 AMG, which is a sedan based on the A and B-classes. Similar size, and it eliminates the hatchback.

Haha that's what i said!! He says 86 is a "hairdresser's car" lol. BUT i don't want too many people in my family having a 86, my partner already has one.
