Just out of curiosity, how do you plan on passing smog later? Are you guys planning on putting the stock stuff back on for the test then back to the headers/etc? Just curious.

So Tylub, just looking for an update - did you do the swap and were you happy with the results? I have a non-resonated headerback as well and was curious if I'd be happy with the resonated midpipe now that I've gone FI and tend to stay in the higher revs for more fun

Anyone around NY with the resonated headerback want to compare against my non-resonated in person and see if a swap would be desirable?

Yes and no, also sorry for the late response, I haven't been very active recently due to school and work.

I am pleased with the new sound as it takes care of the little rasp when the exhaust is cold, and overall it is toned down and more suitable for DD, however, at the same time i miss the raw ROAR of the non-resonated midpipe. The sound sounds a lot more suppressed and in a way, less refined.

the sound is a lot quieter and before my girlfriend and my friends could hear me from a few blocks away, and when I show up now, they can barely hear me unless it's in the middle of the night.

The ideal exhaust now that I've tried both would be in between resonated and non resonated. (perhaps a smaller resonator in the midpipe would have been sufficient).

so to sum everything up, it's a love-hate relationship

If you can deal with the little rasp before it is fully warmed, love the raw roar of the exhaust note, and can deal with volume, stay with the non-res (I miss being a tad bit obnoxious hehe...)

if you want more DD use out of it, lose the rasp COMPLETELY, planning on headers, want the volume a little lower (compares to my pop's stock cayman exhaust now, although it is still slightly louder) try to trade for the resonated

if you have any more questions, let me know :happy0180:

Thanks man - this is definitely going to be one of those situations where I'll have to experience it for myself to see if it's too drastic of a tone reduction. I definitely don't want to go too quiet or I'd just be better off switching back to stock since the aftermarket power gains really aren't worth mentioning.

I'll see if I can find one local to me to see how it sounds.

For your situation, maybe it's time for an aftermarket header to open the sound back up
