I was still having a great time! At Atlanta Motorsports Park in the same group I felt a little more on pace with the more powerful cars since they don't have quite as much room to go WOT and blow my doors off!

I should have some significant gains with the JDL UEL header and a tune. I don't have any track time scheduled in the coming months but I might do another HPDE at Road Atlanta in October so hopefully the car will have a little more oomph by then. Forced Induction is unfortunately not going to happen as this is my DD and my only car so I need to keep the drivetrain warranty for now. With my track addiction I'd not only be in the hole for the cost of the FI kit itself, but also supplemental mods needed for track usage like big brake kit, major cooling upgrades, clutch, etc.

I also want to wait and see what comes of this whole injector seal fiasco once Subaru and Scion get off their asses and acknowledge the defective stock ECU tune destroying injector seals by allowing detonation between WOT upshifts above 5k rpms.

Quoting because it's been so long and these are epic! Also wanted to ask if you had these available in a more wallpaper-appropriate size? The car is just so clean!

I had the only car in my group running street tires and one of the only cars with less than 300hp, lol
Looks good, any idea what lap times you were running?

Nope. Don't want my HPDE participation to be construed by anyone watching as anything other than non-competitive and educational with absolutely no indication of "racing" what-so-ever.

I felt your pain the past two nights installing the TF brake cooling kit; there are drops of blood on my garage floor from wrestling with the hose on the passenger side where the SHARP exhaust shield corners are....

No pain, no gain, right? But really, that hose is a bitch to get around the radiator! I wore nylon gloves and they only lasted a few minutes before they were shredded. My mechanics gloves were too thick to be able to work with the hose, so my hands met the same fate as yours.

Other than that what is your opinion on the install difficulty and the fit and finish of the kit? I'm still really happy with it after two track weekends, the latest of which was at my local track (Road Atlanta) that's the hardest on brakes.

I still need to pull my wheels off and inspect everything, just haven't had time.

I really want to get to Road Atlanta one day. Are those ducts working well? I know the rotors get a lot of loving after that loooooong straight.

Funny you ask that as earlier this evening I had some free time and decided to pull my Enkei's off and check everything and swap the stock wheels on so I can clean the Enkei's off the car later. They have lots of nasty tire clag stuck all over them and of course a ton of dust. Fortunately the plastic hubcentric rings that TireRack supplied with the Enkeis did not melt or deform from all the heat on track. They took a little convincing to pull off the hub on the fronts, which were still warm from driving home earlier.

Snapped a few pics; wasn't going to bother posting them but since it may be good for folks wondering about the effectiveness of the @Touge Factory brake cooling kit:

No cracking, delamination or abnormal looking wear. Can't catch a fingernail on anything.

Dust boots look fine, very happy about that.

Front pads got HOT! The Mint Green Project Mu paint is all gone and the backing plates look scorched, lol

Front pads are wearing pretty even. This is after 4x25 min sessions at Atlanta Motorsports Park and 6x25 min sessions at Road Atlanta. Not bad considering I was beating on them.

Double checked the cooling hoses for slack/wear and made sure everything was tight.

The rear pads/rotors are wearing just fine and the green PMU paint is still visible on the pads, which haven't gotten close to wearing past the slot in the middle yet.

Honestly the part that I worried about the most (backing plates) turned out to be the easiest and most straight forward to install; and it was actually routing the hose that I found to be the biggest pain. I did put in an extra few zip ties to pull the hose away from various components, and found the easiest place in the splash guard to zip tie the hoses to is a small notch that protrudes inward into the wheel well area, which if you ziptie the hose there, really helps keep the hose away from the header on the passenger side. Other than that, install was pretty straight forward.

I did add mesh to the ducts though to prevent debris from getting in, as well as changed the hose clamps from silver to black for the ducts in the front grille for aesthetic purposes.

Yep, that's exactly where I tied mine for max header clearance. I had to ask @JDLAutoDesign to weld my primary 02 sensor bung in a different spot than normal for the UEL header I ordered to clear the ducts better where they enter the engine bay. The secondary 02 sensor should hopefully clear the hoses with the L-shaped spacer I've got waiting.

Did you just use gutter guard from Home Depot/Lowes or something else?

Actually bought some dive mesh:

You can see what difference the black worm clamps make:

Got some of the dive mesh from @smbstyle to install to my brake ducts as soon as I can.

Perrin oil cooler kit should be coming in a couple weeks or so after Mocal ships some new cores back to @PERRIN. I'll likely wait for both my JDL UEL header and oil cooler kit to arrive then I'll put it up on the lift and knock out all three installs at once and save repeat trips to the shop.

The long-awaited Road Atlanta pics are currently downloading as well. I should have them resized and posted shortly.
