Yeah we all know how much it sucks to see a part you really want and have that damn bank account tell you no.

My room mate is a SENA sponsored car.. And he is still running out to events to fulfill his requirements for the sponsorship.. Even the. He had to dump money into it.. It's not a give me your part for free and I'll allow a sticker on my car.. That's what a lot think.. Your having to make a proposal on why that vendor wants to give you a part at reduced cost, and sometimes free, in exchange for what they get back.. A vendor will love to give you a 200$ part for free if your sitting on the main stage at SEMA showing off their product.. But if your proposal is local events and stuff.. Expect a discount and not much more... Everyone wants free stuff and parts at reduced cost.. Making the company or vendor believe its worth their time to hook you up over someone else is the first step.. Most vendors have sections on their websites.. Make a proposal, sell yourself.. But expect to spend a lot of money to get the big sponsorships..

Sorry to say but a lot of it has to do with who you know in the industry. Companies get hundreds of proposals that usually get ignored due to overwhelming volume. Even the good ones get overlooked.

SEMA is your best chance at getting a FEW free parts but you'll be putting a lot of your own money into getting your car ready for an event like that. And you'll be out of a car for about a month if not more.

High profile cars you see out there have emptied their bank accounts on their cars even though they have a lot of support from different companies.

My advice would be to get out to meets and network; get to know people in the industry to get your foot in the door. Do something that's original(but in good taste) with your car and you'll get noticed.

yeah from experience, you need to team up with a company to create a sema booth car, then you can get a lot of free stuff but you still need to plan on spending a good amount of money for "non sponsor" items.

if you dont have a booth car then you will get wholesale or slightly below wholesale pricing, which is usually 25-40 off retail.

You need to tell the company what you can do for them that nobody else can. What sets you apart?

There are "sponsored" cars that are really just getting small discounts on parts, anyone can really get, and then there are the truly sponsored cars that are getting free parts.

The catch is, the guys that are getting the free parts are already pouring a TON of their own money into the car, and the free stuff is just icing on the cake.
